Tip & How-To about Intel Computers & Internet

What to do if liquid is spilled on your laptop, "DO NOT TURN POWER ON"

Remove all power from the laptop, the power supply adapter and the main battery should be removed right away, put several layers of paper towels on a firm surface, open lid of laptop, flip over so the keyboard is facing down, this will drain most of the fluid out since most get trapped between the keys, finally it should be taken to a service centre for inspection and cleaning along with a keyboard replacement, remember speed is the key in saving your computer.

how do i remove candle wax from a carpet

Fold a paper towel into several layers and place over the wax . Use the heat from an iron (dry not steam) to melt the wax so the paper towel can absorb the wax. You may have to do this several times depending on how much wax is in the carpet.

Laptop is turning on and off

Remove the AC adapter (Charger)

PROPER method is to disconnect the power cord of the AC adapter, from power; THEN unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.

Same thing in reverse to plug the AC adapter back in.
AC adapter is plugged into laptop, THEN AC adapter is plugged into power.

Unplugging the AC adapter from the laptop, while being plugged into power; can cause a Voltage Spike.

You may get away with it for years, and several laptops; and have no problems.

However it only takes ONCE, to fry out the SMD fuses, Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors, and Power MOSFET's, on the laptop motherboard's DC to DC circuit.

Jus sayin'.

Moving on........

AC adapter removed, remove the Battery.
Press the Power On button in, and hold in for a count of 10 seconds.
Let go.
Do this procedure 2 more times.

(Draining residual power)

Reinstall the Battery. Attach the AC adapter, plug AC adapter into power. Let the Battery charge 24 hours.
Then turn the laptop on, and tell me what happened.

Laptop got wet

Disconnect power and remove main battery, put out several sheets of paper towels on a table top, open laptop and lay it down with keyboard facing downward on the towels, most fluid becomes trapped between the keys and should drain out. Next take it to a service shop to have it dismantled to remove any additional fluid on the motherboard and have the keyboard replaced.

acer 2480 2247 won't power up -no lights no nothing, pwr supply is not the problem, lid close switch isn't stuck ,pwr. on switch seems fine and power supply jack on motherboard is not broken

Remove the main battery and the power supply, allow several minutes to get rid of any residual charge, now plug the power supply adapter back in and press power "leave battery out" is there any change? if not! remove power supply, now! press and hold power for 60 seconds to reset the laptop. Next install main battery back in and the power supply adapter, power up! if no change, the motherboard is the problem.
