Tip & How-To about Frigidaire Refrigerators
Now with most manufacturer's rust is not covered under warranty. Hopefully you can use some do-it-yourself steps to help restore your unit's appearance:
1) Dip a moist, soft toothbrush in a box of baking soda. Very gently, in the direction of the stainless grain, rub back and forth on the appliance. The mild abrasive action will get into the grain without damaging it. You can use your finger (instead of a toothbrush) for even better results.
2) Rinse the baking soda off with a warm, damp (not wet) paper towel. Dry thoroughly. You may see or smell rust on the paper towel or toothbrush. That means it is working!
3) Finally, dry the appliance thoroughly. You don't want to leave any water that could cause more rust.
Now you do have the option to paint the area with manufacturer touch up paint, but be careful to not over paint and over coat the area. You will notice a big spot on the unit where you put the paint instead of it being a more subtle approach.
