How to connect an iPod to Vista Operating System

When you connect your iPod to your computer, ready to use. Vista has the ability to identify and download the appropriate drivers for new hardware. This guarantees the drivers from a disc or tries to find them online.

1. Connect the USB side of the iPod USB cable to an open port on your computer.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to your iPod.

3. Waiting for the sound of the "new hardware" confirmation on the computer, and wait for the drivers. IPod charging mode and will immediately begin to sync with iTunes when connected.

I have connected the audio cable from the computer to the monitor and there is no sound.. where can I find the driver?

Vista is usually pretty good at sourcing device drivers! Do you have your original Vista install CDs. It might help to have the Vista CD in the drive when you plug in the audio cable and see if the OS can find the appropriate device driver on the CD.

Otherwise is your system connected to the internet? If so Vista will also try to download appropriate device drivers from the Net.

Failing that you will need to manually source the driver from the web. I find that Google is the best resource for finding device drivers. If you right click on the device with the yellow "!" in device manager and select "Properties". Then click on the Details tab and check out the Hardware Ids. Often as not putting these into Google will help you identify the device, and give you an idea of where to get the appropriate device driver.

Good luck!

in device manager I have exclamation mark for network drivers. I cannot connect to the internet . Can I download new drivers

Right click on the problem device and select uninstall, after all the problem devices are uninstalled, right click and select Scan for hardware changes or to that direction, the devices will be reinstalled.

If there really is a problem the devices will report the same issue, right click properties and tell me what it says on the Status message of the device(s)

Installation of a downloaded driver for Lexmark X1290 All-In_One

For those of you who have downloaded the appropriate vista driver for your printer. Go to device manager on pc (control panel, hardware and devices etc) Select uninstall printer driver, as you want any old references to xp one deleted. Now, place new disc or dicc with new driver files in and your install new hardware program shopuld self start. IF not you can manually do it by going to add new hardware wizard, and select own information to suit yopur needs. But win vista should automatically find the new drivers.
