Cloc wise as you're standing in front of the vehicle looking at the engine....(also engine front to back)...the cylinder bank on the left is numbers 2, 4, 6, 8 and the cylinder bank on the right is 1, 3, 5, 7....The spark plug wire order on the cap is 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2....Starting with number 1 spark plug wire on the cap being placed on the 2nd distributor post clockwise away from where the electrical socket is on the cap.

mcdevito75 here, I'm figureing this is a real truck, if so, you may have to go under the truck to the transmisson and unhook 1 or both shft rods and then reattach them back onto the transmission

Dislocate it from the side of the transmission and see if you can run through all the gears. If you can't, you have something wrong inside the pan with the parking pawl. It looks like a piece of metal with stairs on it. If this helps let me know by hitting the helpful button =)

Terminal B = battery

Terminal A = fuse

Terminal H = headlights

Terminal R = rear park and side marker lights

Terminal I = instrument panel lights

Terminal D1 = dome feed light

Terminal D2 = dome light

disconnect all linesfrom fuel pump remember where they came from remove the two bolts (some have 3)remove pump catch rod that comes out clean gasket surface glue new gasket to new pump cover rod with heavy grease insert rod if you used enough grease it will stay on its own install pump being careful to keep mounting surfaces clean reinstall bolts put lines back on crank over about 4 times no longer than 15 seconds if engine doesn't prime prime carb start done check for leaks

CHECK THE SENDING UNIT FROM THE FUEL TANK. GET A "D" CELL BATTERY AND CONNECT THE WIRES FROM THE SENDING UNIT DOWN BY THE FUEL TANK. ONE WIRE TO THE POSITIVE END AND THE OTHER TO THE NEGATIVE END OF THE BATTERY. HAVE SOMEONE IN THE CAB VERIFY THAT THE FUEL GAGE MOVES. IF IT DOES THEN YOUR SENDING UNIT IN THE FUEL TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND AN EASY FIX.

There should be a wire that connects to the gas tank sending unit and maybe another wire connected to a spade terminal that could be screwed down to the in-tank sending unit. The brown wire from your gas tank sending unit goes to the back of the dash guage. All the gas tank sending unit does is give a "ground" signal to the dash guage. Whatever you do, do not connect the brown wire to a positive 12 volt wire as sending 12 volts through the gas tank sender will explode the gas tank! Take a look at this website and it will all clear up for you.

You did not say if your dash guage is wires with a plug-in or single wires connecting it. If what i've given you here is not enough to fix the whole problem then respond back with how does the wires connect to the back of the guage. Good Luck!

Ken, That is totally up to you and your comfort level. IF the purchase price is reasonable (you can find plenty of pricing by online searches) and you like the vehicle, then take it to the next step. Since you are not mechanically inclined, take a mechanic with you who can inspect the car bumper to bumper and point out any inconsistencies or potential mechanical issues. I hope this helps!
