AT&T ATT-974 Corded Phone - Page 3 Questions & Answers
My AT&T landline has no dial tone
Is this just for your home or do your neighbours have the same problem? I hope I can help you further, a few more details would help me be able to help you.

I need access code to get to voice mail on answering machine - I have at&t dect 6.0 model SL82318
If you need the remote access code for the answering system, then the original (default) access code is given in the manual on page 50 (page 53 of the PDF) and on 55 (page 58 of the PDF). See the manual online at
https://att.vtp-media.com/ecp/documents/product_Product/364/UserManual/5977/SL82118_manual_i10.pdf . Unfortunately, if the remote access code has been changed, the default code will not work. As far as I know there is no way to reset the SL82318 remote access code to the factory default remotely. See page 50 of the manual to reset the phone's access code when you are using the handset. When you use the handset and start to change the code, the current remote access code will be announced first.
Any voice mail system would be accessed using the phone number and codes from your telephone service provider. This information will not correspond to the answering system of the SL82318.
I hope this helps.

My AT&T Answering System 1337 has a steady buzz - how do I get rid of it?
Check your ground wire where the phone line comes into the junction box outside your house. It is either loose or corroded. It should be clean and clamped to a ground stake or water pipe like for an outdoor hose faucet. Check both ends of the wire. Without it, the phone system's impedance is so high that it will receive the 60 Hz hum from any electrical appliances around the house that are within a few feet of a line on an extension phone, answering machine or even an extension phone outlet wire running through a wall. These make great receiving antennas. good luck.
