I use the Avaya Partner 18D as my home telephone.

If an extension has VMS Cover (F15) or Automatic VMS Cover (#310) active, unanswered
calls to that extension are routed to the voice messaging system after the specified number of
VMS Cover Rings.

From a system telephone, press the programmed button to turn VMS Cover off. When the light is on, VMS Cover is on and your unanswered intercom, DID, and transferred calls or outside calls go to your voice mailbox after the specified number of VMS Cover Rings.

I have downloaded the manual for the Avaya phone

You dont need to the phones user guide, you need the Voicemails administrator guide.
You will need to know what voicemail you have, as there are a bunch that could be on your system.

I need to replace the

Somewhere, like in the electrical room, is a place where all the wires for your phone sysem go. In that room, or closet, or whatever is a Partner ACS phone system. The cards are either light gray or ivory colored and it has a bunch of modular jacks in the face of it. One of the cards is the ACS processor and it has a battery compartment on the lower right side of the face of the unit. Without turning off the system, you can slide the lock over, pull the battery holder out, and put 2 new batteries in the holder. That will stop the "change battery" message.

I have the Avaya Partner

This is as a result of the phone processing power being too slow. Usually the unit processes the request to the intercom and as it does this if the system is too slow by the time the request is sent to the receiver you would have dropped. If the same happens when you get called from other lines on the intercomm then the problem is the general connection but if not and the problem only occurs when you dial out then it could be caused by one of the following either your unit is not properly connected or the unit in your office is bad internally...but this rarely does happen so it is more likely to be the connection cables. Get an expert to check it for you and correct the cable connection to avoid the delay in the transmission from one box to the other.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

How can I program a voice mail button on a Lucent

Hello

Pick up your Lucent receiver and dial the numeric code provided by your company or employer to access the voicemail system. If you are off premises, you can dial the 800 phone number specific to your system and then input the code to be connected to the phone network.

Note that there are several different companies that provide voicemail services for Lucent phones. One such company, for example, is the Audix voice messaging system.

Enter your system code and wait for the recorded voice greeting. Your system code is provided by your employer or administrator and varies depending on the system you are using. After you enter this code you will be logged into your company's voicemail system.

Enter your extension to setup your voicemail when prompted and press the confirmation key on your phone. On many systems, such as the Audix system, the confirmation key is the "#" sign, but it may be different on your particular system.

Next, you will be asked to enter a personal code and press the confirmation key again.

Your voicemail account will then be created and you can log in listen to voice messages

We have a lucent 18d

It could be either one. It would be easier to check the phone by taking another working phone from a different location and trying it. It could of also have been inadvertently plugged into a non-working jack near the jack it was supposed to be plugged into. Hopefully its not the wiring.

I have a lucent Partner 18d telephone. I want to

That is not possible on the Partner ACS. The oONLY thing that would be close to what you want is Remote Call Forward.

As long as you have a Partner ACS release 6 or higher,

You need to set the permissions on a phone, then set that phone to forward out to teh external number. Then when calls come in, you transfer to that phone, which will forward to a cell or external number....boom, done!

Thats it though.

We need to set up

The default password on partner voicemails is 1234. The reason for the call returning to the extension that transferred the call to the new extension is probably because the cover vms isn't set up for the new extension.
To check the vms cover for that extension, at either extension 10 or 11 press feature 00 and press the left hand intercom button twice. The display will say system programming.
Enter #310, the display will sayAutomatic VMS Cover Extension:
enter in the extension number of the new extension.
The screen will say either "1 assigned" or "2 not assigned"
enter in 1 (assigned)
press feature 00 when finished.
