We have a Leapster 2
I posted a solution to this problem a couple months ago. We have the Cars edition of the Leapster2. I'm guessing it was the same problem that we were having. When the pen touched the screen there was no response and the unit had barely been used. Try this!! I found it on
www.ehow.com.
Callibration
If you touch your stylus pen to the screen of your Leapster2 and it does not respond, your unit needs to be calibrated. To do this, make sure no game cartridge is in the unit. Turn the unit on while you are holding down the "Hint" or "?" button. Keep holding the button down until the Leapster2 menu appears. You will need to turn off the unit and repeat these steps if you do not see the menu. When the menu comes onto the screen, press the "A" button and use the stylus pen to touch each of the crosshairs as they appear. When you are done, your unit should be properly calibrated.

When we inserted a new game cartridge (Pet Pals
its not recognizing the game, contact is probably dirty. take an eraser and rub the contacts of the cartridge and get them super clean, blow out ALL the debris and that should fix it.
good luck!

My leapster does not respond when touched
It needs Calibrated! Very easy to do. Push and hold the "?" while turning it on. Let go of the power button but keep the "?" held down. It will bring you to a screen and on the upper right side you will see a blue "Calibrate" option so press A. Then with the pen just hit the "x"'s you will see appear. After that's done restart your leapster by pressing and holding down the power button. Leapster will turn off and then release the power button after it's off and it will automatically turn back on. Problem will be fixed!

New leapster explorer, it freezes will not respond
I also had this issue. I had gotten two, one for each child. I took the battery pack from the one that was working and put it on the one that did not. That still did not work. When I put on the original back on it started to work. Maybe the connection was bad? Maybe there is an identifier on battery pack that got reset?

How do you enter a name on the Leapster 2?
I am guessing you have all 3 spots filled and need to delet one. HOLD DOWN in sequence HOME + A + Left Arrow. So you have to hold all 3 buttons and then the X shows up. I was able to then delete the Sign In name I wanted.

Leapster 2 does not respond to the sylus.
I had the same problem. I tried to clean it, brush out crumbs,
gently "bleed" it and so on until I saw Quebol96's answer to the same problem: www.fixya.com/support/t3077478-leapster_will_not_recognize_pen_first
Quebol96's solution worked perfectly!

Answer
If your Leapster2 does not respond to the stylus pen, it needs to
be calibrated. Calibrating the Leapster2 is easy:
1) Ensure that a cartridge is not inserted
2) Hold down the Hint (?) button while turning the unit on.
Continue to hold the Hint button down until the LEAPSTER menu appears.
3) When the LEAPSTER menu screen appears, press the A button
4) Touch each of the crosshairs that appear with the stylus
5) Restart unit

I have a problem with Leapster Explorer. After
You have to keep clicking the arrow underneath the message. Each time your child plays, you earn 60 tokens or whatever. You have to click through all of those messages until you can play. It's confusing, because all of the messages or the same, but keep clicking that right arrow and eventually you'll be done!
