what has happened is the brushes have lost contact with the shaft you need to clean them with some oil move the wheels back and forth with you hands after you added the oil to work it in use a very small screw driver to clean the shaft (past end) whale you are spinning the wjeels with you hands should work. I just performed that operation my self today. Same thing my xl5 steerinrg worked but no go............Good Luck,

The set button has a tendency to get stuck, try blow pressurised air around the button that might help. Else you have to disassemble the esc to get the dirt out, but you probably won't do that to a brand new esc.

Reverse steering channel on transmitter, there is a little switch for that.

If you are using 2.4 GHz you shouldn't have problems with channels, otherwise you have to use crystals for 2 different channels to avoid this problem.

Turn the throttle trim nob on the controller till the esc light turns red.

The servo outputs are disconnected or loose. Try wiggling the plugs that go from the reciever to the servos...

tighten the tension on the slip clutch , but not too tight, as that will make the engine stall

Spin the rear wheels and make sure nothing such as a small stone is binding something up in the driveline. Check to make sure the motor has not gotten disconnected from the ESC. If you still have problems with it post again and I will try to look further into it.

It sounds like the battery is defective, that causes it to lose it charge very quickly.
