Hello I recently purchased the newbright 384

You should have a transformer with 110 volts ac (household voltage) going in. Coming out should be low voltage dc (direct current) varing from zero to about 15 volts dc. You can measure it with a voltmeter set on dc volts and a 20 volt scale. See if you get voltage out when you turn up the speed of the train - dial. You can test with a 12 volt parking lamp from the auto store or Kmart.
Check for a rest buton on the transformer and also read the transformer and owner manual for the voltage specs. Good luck

The battery pack is in the coal tender. The top of the tender lifts off pretty simply. It requires six C batteries. You connect the tender to the locomotive via a power cord, which should be obvious. If it's not, perhaps the cord has been severed.

Set up this morning.

Check each piece of the train track and make sure it is completely connected and then check each train car and make sure they are firmly on the track. Replace any batteries (inside the coal car or controller, if equipped) with brand new ones. Make sure the tender car is plugged into the locomotive. After you do all of this and you are still having a problem then you will need to replace the power transformer.

My Holiday Express Train By New Bright No Longer plays any Sound.

there is a HD sound box speaker fixed in the unit.if there is no sound coming that means either the speaker which is emitting the sound out is got faulty or the speaker wires have got loose or got cut in between.the unit needs to be opened and checked.its not very hard but bit checking with meter or continuity tester is required to check the speaker and its wires. This will help. Thanks please keep updated. please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

I have a Newbright Musical Holiday Station

Check to make sure you have the large plug from the tender car to the loco plugged in correctly and secure. The tender car supplies power to the loco and if that cable is not connected the train will not run.

Will not run or make sounds, control panel lights

Check some of the other solutins I have posted regarding this issue, but you can check to make sure your track is getting power by using a volt meter set to DC. You should measure 10.5VDC between the tracks.

When you set the Treetop tender on the tracks and turn on the power, the tender car should light up if you have power. When you add the loco and plug in the large black cord from the Tender to the Loco, the train should light up as well. If you are getting power you should then be able to press the forward button and the train should start.

Make sure the clips on the track control box are making contact with the rails on both sides. If your getting power to the track and the tender lights up, you should be good to roll.

New Bright does not offer any replacement or repair parts for thier products.

They have a 60 day replacement warranty, but after that, you are on your own.

I have power to the track and the controller, but not the train.

I assume you have the Treetop Tender car on the track? The treetop tender is car that makes the electrical connection between the track and the train.

1. Use a volt meter across the track. You should have about 10.5VDC on the track (anywhere on the track)
2. Even without the Loco on the track, the Treetop Tender should light up if you have power to the track. If you have power and the tender does not light. Check the brushes located between the wheels on the tender. These are the motor brushes that pick up the current from the track for the train set. Make sure they are contacting the track.
3. Add the loco to the track and plug in the large black plug from the tender to the loco. Turn on the power and press forward. The train should start rolling.

Try all the functions, bells, ho ho ho, all aboard etc ..

Add one car at a time and make sure that each one lights up before moving on to the next.

Runs for a bit, then stops

Unfortunately the failure can be occuring in several places on this train. The wall power supply, the track command connector, the Treetop Tender or the loco itself.

The REALLY bad news is that New Bright does NOT offer any repair service or replacement parts for thier product. After the 60 day replacement warranty it either works or goes in the garbage.

However.. when the train stops, try taking a volt meter set to measure DC and place one lead on one the inside of the track and one on the outside of the track. You should be reading about 10.5V DC. (flip the leads if it comes out -10.5V)

If the you still have power on the track, then problem is in the treee top tender or the loco itself.

Look on the treetop tender between the wheels. there is an electric motor brush located between each of the wheel pairs. Make sure that they are making contact with the track. This is where the cars and the loco get thier power from the track.

These wear out pretty quick and once again, there are no replacements available.

I have a new bright animated holiday train from a

You should have a 3 pieces to provide power....

1. A track connector box. Looks like a "T". It slips under the track to make the track power connection. The transformer plugs into it (2 pin Molex type connector) and the command console (has an RJ11 telephone jack type connector on it)

2. A large square transformer. One end plugs into the wall and the other into the track connetor box.

3. The Command Console. Has the on/off button, forward, reverse, mute, sounds and speed contol on it .. has a connector that looks like a telephone plug.

Unfortunately... DO NOT look to New Bright for missing or non working parts. New Bright does not offer repair or replacement parts for thier products. :-( ....

Train powers up,lights go go.Press forward and it

The tender car supplies power from the track to the entire trian.
Make sure the train will run with just the Loco and the tender. Make sure the tender is securely plugged in to the Loco and make sure the the brushes under the wheels on the tender (this is how power gets from the track to the train) are in contact with the track. Finally use a scotch brite pad (DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL) to clean up the track a little.

You can also take a volt meter and measure for DC between the rails. You should have about 10.5VDC on the track. (Inside rail is neg on mine and outside is pos) ...

Hope this helps..

The Engine is actually powered by the "Tree Top Tender" car. You will see the brushes that conduct power on the tender car. Place the Loco on the track and plug in the Tender car and it should work.
