It is definitely the switch, not the connections.. All the switch does is reverse the battery polarity so the dc motor spins in the opposite direction. It is not uncommon for you to be to open up the switch, locate the problem, and put it back together. Some of those things are, unfortunately, replaceable only and not repairable.

check the battery with a multimeter and make sure that its putting out the proper voltage

have you verified that the battery is charged using a multimeter?

there is usually a screw that needs to be taken out to be able to shift it into high gear

You can test the start switch with a multimeter. This sounds like a battery problem to me though. You can test the battery voltage using a multimeter as well, but this won't tell you if the battery has bad cells or not. Hi, does it come on? And please try and locate where the battery stays,might be affected and might not allow it to move freely....

Also when you tried it , did you disassemble it? spray and wires even batteries are not friendly at all if you know what i mean.

So you will need to get into it and see if there is still some spray hanging somewhere...

You could use any stuff that can remove spray stain off, and clean up the inside i guess that will do..

under air cleaner box, reverse switch, one green and white wire. needs good connection to ground through sensor for full spark. happened to me 3 times now, very bad connector by yamaha in my opinion. about every 29 hours of riding it will need to be tightened, hope this helps.
