Tyre pressure for my 07 sfx KTM running forestry

Thank you for contacting FixYa with this interesting question. There has always been an ongoing debate on this issue. The objective is to make your front wheel stick in the corners while not pinching the tube against the wheel usually means more air 15 - 25 lbs front, 12 - 16 lbs rear. Wet or dry conditions make a huge difference. You can run a lot more air when it's dry (dessert racing etc...) even in the woods the clay gets really hard packed and you might as well leave the air at higher levels for flat tire prevention. I ride in Oregon where we usually have mud. I pack a Malcolm Smith compressed air dispenser in my fanny pack so I can increase or decrease the pressure as needed when competing on special tests or sections where I need lower air pressure to get extra tread grip on my knobs. In muddy sections I like 10 - 14 lbs of rear tire pressure and new knobbies. Suggestion would be to keep experimenting with pressure, keep sharp knobs on your tires and don't get any flats from tube pinches in the middle of now where. Carry a dozen or so of those 14 inch zip ties so if you get a flat you can zip tie the tire to the wheel and ride her back to the pits. Happy ripping and keep the wire tight,TF

Hi i have a ktm

Did you pull the carburetter off and clean it out also? If the bike was still running it has probably got a belly full of water. Great work on dumping and refilling the oil. But you need to check your carbs and your air filter. If the air filter is wet it will run for a little while then stop. Also check your spark plug and leads make sure they don't have water in them or haven't corroded.

So make sure you have good air, spark and fuel delivery.

I have a slight water leak from the small bleed

You need a new water pump seal. It is fairly easy to fix and the parts are not expensive. Repair it before you cook your motor - that is an expensive, complicated repair.

You might take your coil off (under the gas tank) and have it checked at a reputable shop

Do you need lock tite to change rear sprocket?

It helps but if you have the castle nuts with the nylon ring on inside of nut (these are called aircraft nuts)then lock tite not needed.Or if you have the lock washers that bend over nut you wont need lock tite.If you have it it dosent hurt to use it.

12.8 is a good voltage for a battery under load, but that depends on the load. The voltage with the engine running at about 3000 rpm should however be at least 13.8. If it is still 12.8 the alternator is not charging and you will need to get that checked out.
