There are a number of possible causes for this, but here's the most obvious and widespread one. If this doesn't work for you, please reply (instead of just downvoting) and we can look at some other possibilities. But try this first (if you ar eusing Google Chrome as a browser):
  1. In Google Chrome, click on Tools menu (a little wrench icon), then go to Options.
  2. Click on the Under the Hood tab.
  3. Under "Privacy" section, untick the check box for Use DNS pre-fetching to improve page load performance. disable-chrome-dns-prefetching.jpg

Error 102 in Google Chrome

Here is why I receive this error:
When I had installed Google Chrome, I chose "not to participate to make our software experience better." I also do not use Google as my start page. What is happening is that the browser "phones home" against your choice and against your will, thus the error code. I have my firewall to block google.com and that is why I get this error, no matter what website I go to. Uninstall it and use Firefox, until Google respects your privacy.

Oh, and try it and you will see this is the truth. Block google.com with your firewall and go to any website....you will not be able to use Google Chrome and you get that error - it collects your personnel info. I had to use Firefox to post this. If you are comfortable with google tracking your web activity, by all means, use it.
