Line Redirection / No answer transfer

Nortel Networks is intentionally deceitful in their manual (forcing you to call them for assistance that you must pay for). While they say to use Feature 84/Line Direction for calls to an external line, this will not work. (Even when the phone tells you that all calls have been redirected.) Rather, use Feature 4/Call Forward. In the manual it says this is for other lines within the system, but it will work for an external line.

I locked myself out of my voicemail for Norstar M7310!

Feature 983 is system admin

1. Log into system administration
To Reset a Mailbox Password:
1. Log into system administration
2. Select the softkey under “MBOX”
3. Select the softkey under “Chng”
4. Enter the mailbox number you want to reset the password for
5. The display shows “Reset Password”
6. Select the softkey under “RESET”
7. Press the release key
*The new password will be “0000′, the system will ask the user to change

HOW TO PROGRAM THE NORSTAR M7310 FOR AFTER HOURS MESSAGES

This is more complex than you think.It is the voice mail system where programming is done and requires passwords.You should call in a tech/vendor and get trained on this part as an administrator at the same time.

How do you reset the

If it's for someone else's extension, you go into Admin (Feature 983) and hit Mailbox, Chng, type in the mailbox number and hit reset. This will reset it to 0000. If you've forgotten the admin password, I found a great online cheat sheet on how to change it, let me know if you need it.

I have the same problem: mailbox locked

How to Change a Mailbox Password (Administrator Only) 1. To access the voice mail system press "Feature".
2. Press "983".
3. When you see "Log:" enter "120000" for 2 digit extension numbers, enter "1020000" for 3 digit extension numbers.
4. Press "OK".
5. Press "MBOX".
6. Press "CHNG".
7. Enter the mailbox number (same as extension number) you wish to reset.
8. Press "Reset" softkey.
9. Press "Rls" to exit (orange button to the right of the number buttons).
The Default password is "0000".

I need to program the lines to ring on my phone. How do I do this?

This is tech programming and not admin, you can take a course on how to program and navigate a business Nortel Norstar phone system. It is the system that runs the phones.If you are aware of how to program then it is under config/sets/lineaccess/Lineassignement. You will need to know you line #'s in programming i.e. line 5 is not 5 and depending what what system software depending what line it is in programming.

I used feature 983 to delete a few old mailboxes.

It sounds like you've either deleted your own mailbox or reset the password to 0000 and changed the password to the administrator mailbox. To reset the administrator pasword enter feature 985 press 9, at the password prompt enter 73738767793 (resetsmpwsd) and press ok or #,press yes to reset password. password should be defaulted to 0000. then try Feature 983. if your system has 2 digit intercom #s your password is 120000. 1020000 if you have 3 digit intercom numbers. Once that's done you can go into admin programming to default your password back to 0000.

I have to push the line ringing to answer

Because your phone is not programmed to ring.You need to call your tech/vendor in to program it for you (tech side of programming) known as Configuration.

Old Norstar phone-one line seemingly tied to one extension

You most likely need to call in your tech who looks after the programming there.Needle in haystack, sticky button, bad programming, glitch in system, answer dn etc.

Program exisiting extension number into new meridian phone

In configuration programing (tech programming) "Change DN" needs to be modified.If you do not know the config password or how to program then call your local vendor or make do with DN it was assigned when you plugged it in.
