Hi Peggy
You haven't mentioned how you are doing the "recording"
Most non standard iPhone uses require an App to do the Job.
I use an App called iTalk to record what I want.
When I want to get the recording onto the iMac computer, I open iTunes up on the Mac. Plug the iPhone Data / Charger cable into the USB Port. Then I look in iTunes Upper Left corner for the iPhone Icon. Click on this and the screen should change. Then on the Left Hand Side of the iTunes window under Settings, I see the iCon "A" for Apps. Click on this.
A list of all your Apps shows up. Scroll all the way to the bottom of this list. You will see another Heading called File Sharing. The iTalk App and it's files should show up here as a list with names all in .aiff file format. The individual files can be dragged to the Desktop.
If the files aren't there then you may have to do a standard Sync or Backup in the other areas within iTunes / iPhone settings
Cheers

You are in an accessibility mode called voice over. Using Siri voice command: open accessibility settings.
To navigate in voiceover mode, Three fingers will get you to scroll, Tapping once on an object Will select it, and double tapping will execute a change. See photos below
1. If you call apple with the email that you used they can email you the reset info. Their service number is at there website apple.com/support
2. you can restore it to default settings and start over using itunes
This could be two things. A rogue app/virus, which a restore should fix. Or a failing digitizer(part that recognizes touch ) and will need to be replaced. So . step one, system restore, if problem still exists. Then parts will be needed.
If it's running iOS 7, it cannot be unlocked without signing into the iCloud account of the previous owner. If this is the case, you unfortunately have a phone that will do you absolutely no good. This was a new feature in iOS 7 to deter theft.
do an SMC hard reset by holding down power button and home button until the device restarts, keep holding till apple sign appears and plug into itunes. (recovery mode)
Have you checked if iTunes or your iDevice is authorized with the correct Apple ID? Or do you try to buy music? In that case please check if you have entered the correct payment information.
