Oil / gel leak

If it is coming from your motors, it could be very bad. i.e. motor replacement. Sometimes on the side of those motors there is a black plastic cap about the size of a quarter or half dollar, those fall out sometimes and allow gearbox grease to come out. This should`nt be confused with your motor brush caps which are about the size of a pea and have a small **** in them for a screwdriver.DO NOT TAKE THESE OUT.  If the large cap has come out just stick it back in. If you can`t find it you`ll ned to call a dealer to get the part replaced.    If you can still find no prob, your probably going to have to go to a dealer.

Pronto M51, fully charged batteries, shows a #9 fault, , "communications fault"

check to make sure that there are no missing or bent pins on the lead and socket that connects the power module and the controller (joystick) often the small round plug and socket get bent pins and stop working, if bent try to straighten if missing then you will need a replacement lead or controller (joystick) ebay is a great place to pick up cheap wheelchair parts, do a search on google first as there are several types of controller and leads that can be fitted to this chair, look for a picture that matches the type you have and then search ebay for it, the controllers start from about £25 - 40 the leads from about £15 - £30 still much cheaper that getting a mobility shop to fix it.

Red,amber and two green lights a lit?

Solenoid Brake Trip The parking brakes have a bad connection. Check the parking brake and motor connections. Make sure the system connections are secure. check that the free wheel lever is disengaged, alway switch off the controller (joystick) before making adjustment or unplugging connectors as the error code will not clear until the joystick is switched off and on again. check connector blocks and wires for damage or being dirty contacts. clean use soft wire brush to clean the connector contacts.

I have an older M51

Yes it does. The new switch is the problem. The old toggle had a momentary ON when turned on and a jumper wire on two of the three toggle contacts.

Stability locking kit

The M51 does not have a stability locking kit. The Invacare TDX SP has a gas strut stability locking kit that just had an extensive recall campaign associated with it. Please describe your issue in greater detail.

Have Pronto M51. I got a left motor fault, and replaced the motor. I still get the left motor fault, and what I have checked with a meter checks okay from the info I can find. What do I do now?

Take the motor connection and interchange the right motor with the left one. if the problem moves to the right motor then it is the motor or its wiring. If it does not move when changing the the connections then it is a problem in the controller. hope this helps. Battery won't charge

Most likely you need new batteries. On the M51 powerchair the batteries are located in the center under the seat. Step 1 - remove the seat by pulling up on the swivel handle while lifting straight up, the seat weighs about 50 lbs. After removing the seat remove the center plastic cover by liting it off.
If you have an older model M51 the batteries will each have their own cover - to replace the batteries you will see several connectors that must be unplugged. The front and rear batteries each have different connectors so keep them separate. Lift out the batteries and follow the wiring for each replace the batteries. You will need 2 U1 batteries, available at sears or your local maedical equipment supply store ( Interstate has them too) Simply reverse the removal procedure to replace the batteries making sure you follow all the connections. - good luck

How to remove drive wheel

The drive wheel has a locking tab washer under the bolt which holds the wheel assembly on the end of the drive shaft. Step one is to bend the tab (or tabs) away from the side of the bolt. Put a socket on the bolt to remove it. Make note of the washer and lock tab orientation because there is another tab on the inside which locks into the motor shaft keyway. Spray lube into the shaft and keyway to free up the wheel and remove. A wheel puller is sometimes helpful here. When replacing the parts use Loctite on the bolt and tighten. The final step is to bend a lock tab up against the bolt head to keep it from backing out. The hard part of this whole process is removing the wheel assembly from the motor shaft. It may have seized on to the shaft. Place anti-seize or grease on the shaft after cleaning and before reassembly. invacare com

How can I determine whether the on-board charger is working?

The m51 is notorious for failure of the on-board charger. An easy check would be to plug an off board charger into the 3 prong female charging receptacle at the front of the joystick to see if you can bring the voltage up. You can test the on board charger with a voltmeter at the battery connections or charger joystick port with the charger plugged in. Hope this helps

I'm having problems with my chair. It moves but while running it has a drag to it. I can barely get it to back-up or turn. We replaced the batteries last night and it still does the same thing.

I suspect you are having a wheel problem, in other words, one of your wheels has stopped working right, Raise each wheel off the ground and turn them by hand to see which is bad. If it is a drive wheel, raise each one and try it with the motor. The bad one should show up. God bless your efforts.

My m51 flashes 11 times on joy stick what is that

The diagnostic code would indicate a bad control box. It could also be too low a voltage from the batteries or a bad or broken wire or connector between the joystick and the control box. Chair will need a technician from a good dealer to help out if battery's and wiring are good.

How do i reset the curcuit breaker

The circuit breaker is located on the base of the chair. It is a small button about half the size of a dime, and it often has a flexible cover over it. If it is tripped, you will feel a click when you push it as it resets.
