Error code of 7

Error 7 is most often is a problem in the joystick. Unless you have a large heavy knob you have put on the joystick and can remove and turn the chair off and back on it will need to have a diagnostic test done on it, by a service company, to see if it can be reprogrammed or need to be replaced.

The 3 lights are blinking a diagnostic code. One code for batteries that are to weak is a 2 blink. The 3 lights blink together between 1 and 7 times then they all stop for a second then repeat the same amount again and again. Post the code here if you don't have a manual to look it up.

Pronto M51 feels forced when driving it.

The squealing noise is probably a bearing either in one of the four smaller tires called casters. The problem will not likely cause a break down right away but should be checked by someone mechanically inclined or trained in power wheelchairs. I don't know what you mean by the chair being "forced". Need more info. May have something to do with batteries. If the chair is driving slower and batteries are new their is a recall for that joystick from Invacare. Invacare is replacing joysticks for free.

The AMBER service indicator will light when an error or fault occurs. This is a yellow wrench shape. Why will charge in chair only last short time ? I have already installed new batteries and replaced charger

Something in the wiring could be draining your battery's when chair is not being used, try unhooking a battery cable if your able to and see if your batterys are lasting longer if they are then obvious something draining your battery,if you have a gauge check it at night when your finish using your chair, then check it the next day when your ready to use it and see if the gauge is at the same reading.just a thought, hope it helps,if you can't take off the cable or aren't sure then don't do it I don't want you to get hurt.

Reset button on pronto m51

There is no reset button on a M51 chair. Invacare puts fuses in the battery harnesses. The manual may say there is a reset but trust me there is not.

Power steering electric

Hello, If the chair wants to drive left then you have a disengaged left motor clutch lever or a left motor going bad. Then M51 will not give an error code if the clutch is disengaged. If the chair is veering left as you are driving but you are still able to turn to turn right then the motor is not likely to be disengaged but has a brush or gear problem. It is also possible that the joystick is not working well. The joystick is much less likely to be the problem unless it is damaged somehow.

Hello, When you say the power cable I hope you mean the cable that comes from the main control module under the chair. I want to make sure you are not talking about the AC power cable that plugs from the chair to a wall outlet. So if we are on the same page about the cable is the one going from the joystick to the main control module under the chair and all you do is plug it in and the green speed lights start to blink this would indicate the joystick is bad.

How to remove the seat

Hi. To lift of the seat, you need to pull the knob under the side of the seat that allows you to turn the seat. While you are pulling upward on this lever, use your other hand to lift the seat of its mount. This might be hard to do if the seat pivot is lacking any lube or a light film of oil.
You might have to disconnect the cable to the joystick control first.

Good luck. Neil.

Two red lights blinking means the electronics on the chair think the batteries are low. Test the voltage on the holes marked 1 and 3. Hole 1 is positive and hole 3 is negative. Your meter must be set on DC volts and the meter leads must be in Common and Volts. If your meter has to have the voltage range set, put it on 200vdc. The red lights will blink if the voltage is approximately 22.5vdc or less. The green lights turn on about 24.5vdc or higher.

My power chair sat for 5 years after having been used for only a couple of years. Now the batteries will not charge at all. Where can I find new batteries for it?

You will need two U1 category batteries for this wheelchair. The installation instructions can be located in the User manual available at this site. http://www.invacare.com/doc_files/1125085.pdf You could pick up the batteries at Walmart depending on where you live. Invacare MKIV R11 Flashing lights

One of the most common controllers, codes to help you and others. powerc24.jpgpowerc25.jpg VSI & VR2 Joystick error flash codes: 1 RED BAR:Low Battery Voltage The battery is flat (more likely). Or the battery has a bad connection (which is unlikely) 2 RED BARS: Left Motor Disconnected The left motor is disconnected. Check all the connections for physical disconnection or corrosion or burning usually caused by the salt poured onto the roads every winter. 3 RED BARS: Left Motor Wiring Trip The left motors wiring has a short circuit. Check all connections and leads for wear and chafing between the left motor and the battery cables or chassis 4 BARS: Right Motor Disconnected The right motor is disconnected. Check all the connections for physical disconnection or corrosion or burning usually caused by the salt poured onto the roads every winter. 5 BARS: Right Motor Wiring Trip The right motors wiring has a short circuit. Check all connections and leads for wear and chafing between the right motor and the battery cables or chassis 6 BARS: Activated if you turn on your wheelchair with an external device like the Charger still connected. 7 BARS: Possible Joystick Trip, Make sure that the joystick is in the centre position before switching on. If you still get this when switching on then joystick is probably faulty. 8 BARS: A control system trip. Make sure that all connections are secure and if so the power module or control pod is probably faulty. Test by substitution of known good one. 9 BARS: The parking brakes have a bad connection or have a failed solenoid, or any lever or switches that disconnect drive for pushing the chair manually may be pulled or switched. 10 BARS: Over voltage detected. This can happen with a bad battery connection although unlikely. More likely your battery charger is faulty and is overcharging your batteries quite severely. 1 BAR to 10 BARS and back in a "ripple" every few seconds. Joystick not cantered when turned on. Switch off and try again. 1 BAR to 6 FLASH every few seconds. System Asleep. Switch off and back on. Time before sleep can be adjusted or disabled in programming Hope this helps, If so please click the "Yes" button Regards, Mark.

My laft wheel hancs up. mostly when turning left

Sounds like you need to replace the left electric brake. The brake is on the opposite end of the motor-gear assembly from the motor. Remove the screws holding the brake on to the gear assembly, unplug it and replace with new brake.
