How can I determine whether the on-board charger is working?
The m51 is notorious for failure of the on-board charger. An easy check would be to plug an off board charger into the 3 prong female charging receptacle at the front of the joystick to see if you can bring the voltage up. You can test the on board charger with a voltmeter at the battery connections or charger joystick port with the charger plugged in. Hope this helps
Light come on controller no flashing code lights joy stick does not work
The M51 could have the motor clutch levers in the free wheel/push mode and the joystick will not blink if this is the case. Make sure that the chair cannot be pushed. If it can be pushed it means it is in free wheel and you need to lock the motors in gear.
If it is in gear and the joysticks green light does not change color or blink it could be that the joystick is bad. When nothing happens and the lights don't blink when you push the joystick knob the chairs controller basically isn't recognizing the joystick movement.
Time to have the joystick repaired or more. Have a technician look at it.
My m51 flashes 11 times on joy stick what is that
The diagnostic code would indicate a bad control box. It could also be too low a voltage from the batteries or a bad or broken wire or connector between the joystick and the control box. Chair will need a technician from a good dealer to help out if battery's and wiring are good.
How do i reset the curcuit breaker
The circuit breaker is located on the base of the chair. It is a small button about half the size of a dime, and it often has a flexible cover over it. If it is tripped, you will feel a click when you push it as it resets.
Any one got a picture of the battery compartment for the flexmobil classic, or a wiring diagram. as i disconnected batteries and removed for replacement, and have now forgotten what wires go to what b
Usually there is a diagram on the chassis of the chair for this purpose. If you are not able to find one, you can do a few things.
1. if the cords for the batteries can be unplugged from the chassis, then the wire set will go to the same battery.
2 if the wires are not and you have a long wire and a short wire - look at both sets - the long wire on one set should be the black and the long wire on the other set should be the red - if this is the case you would put the short wire on the front battery and the long wire on the back battery on each side.
If all the wires are the same length, then you will put each set on their individual batteries.
The best way to confirm that the batteries are connected correctly, you should be able to take a voltage reading from positive of one battery to the negative of the other battery and get 24V. this will tell you that you have them connected correctly.
Left wheel will not move when engaged
This could be a few things. You may have a bad motor, a bad cable, a bad brake unit that will not release, a bad controller.
Try the easy stuff first:
1. I would make sure the motor is plugged into the controller first. sometimes a bad connection will do this.
2. Check all the wiring to see if there is any damage to the motor and the brake (4 wires - the brake will have 2 black or white wires and the motor will usually have a red and black)
3. Listen for a clicking sound from the brake - if no click then it is very likely that it is bad.
4. Check the brushes - if they are less than 3/4 inch long, they are worn badly and need to be replaced. Usually if they are this worn the motor is going to run very rough - replacing the brushes will only be a temporary fix - you will need to replace the motors.
5.You can switch the motor leads and see if you get the same results - be careful - switching the motor leads makes everything run the opposite way (right would be left) - if the problem goes away, you had a bad connection.
6. If you still have problems, it would be best to get a tech to look at it.
I don't really think you have a bad controller. from what I understand, the chair runs, but only with 1 motor - if the controller was bad, it would not work at all.
Runs too slow.
max speed on most chairs is 5 mph if slower than that u may need to get the controller reprogramed by a tech, take into consideration also ok a wheelchair can be overprogramed in which case batterys wont last as long,or the motors will burn out be sure to tell him to reprogram to default settings only
What size/dimension are the center drive wheel bolts?
Those are metric(M8 x 1.25 x 20mm). The caster wheels are 7/16-20 x 3-1/4". Make sure you also install a lock washer and a flat washer when you reassemble and always check the tightness every now and then as they can loosen up if you are doing a lot of driving around.
The is a grinding noise from the motor of my power
Shawn was your chair bought by Medicare or Medicaid If so they will pay for the repair. The noise is from a bad gearbox attached to the motor. These aren't cheap so contact Repair Xpress at 1-877-581-3733 to have a tech come out and check the chair
Repair light blinks 3 times
3 blinks is a right motor fault on a Pronto M51. Check that the motor plug has not come unplugged from the main control box or that any of the wires have been broken, cut or pulled out of the right motor.
How do I reset m51 Prono power chair
There is no reset button on a M51. It only has fuses. If it is turning on and it has blinking lights or if you have a joystick that has a display that says Press Reset then the chair needs to have an external reset plugged into it or the chair may need to programmed or serviced.
