Whoops, the second part of that is press FEATURE *0 and the intercom button before you move it and see what extension it is.
Do the same thing after you move it. It will tell you what extension it is and if it stayed the same.

The system CoOrdinator or installer can turn off that Auto Set Relocation feature :-)

Have you tried dialing (* 82) prior to the number you are calling? That should release the private number, for that call only. To release it permanently, you must call your local phone company.

The phone you are transferring to would have to be an extension with out a mailbox, then once it forwards after 4 rings to vm it will not go to its vm it will go to the general co greeting.

Ok, do you know how to get into system programming?

If you do:
-> first dial FEATURE 985 this will give you the DN(Extn) for the voicemail
-> get into programming
-> TERMINALS&SETS enter and put in the extn that is giving you issues
-> then under CAPABILITIES look for FWD NO ANSWER and put in the DN of the voicemail you saw with the Feature 985
-> hit next for the number of rings you want it to ring before going to voicemail
-> hit next and you can now RLS to back out of programming.

Voila, that set will now goto voicemail.

This could be because you have several mailboxes/extensions set up. We've had the same problem in our office.

As a result, from the phone that reads "Messages for you" you can find out which mailbox is attached to the phone.

1. Press "Feature"
The display will read: "Set: ???"

The numbers shown in place of the question mark will be the numbers to the mailbox attached to the phone.

2. Press "Feature"
Enter 981 for voice mail access

The display will read "Login: "
Enter the numbers from the previous action, and if you don't know the password, attempt to use the default passwords of 0000 or 1234.

This worked at our office. I hope it works for you.

If not? We find the site http://nortstarsupport.com VERY helpful.

If you don't know the password, but have access to the system administrator login, you can reset the password for the set you are trying to retrieve messages.

Good luck

This type of problem is not uncommon with vociemail systems. Generally this is caused by the caller using a cell phone that does not have a good signal and the voicemail heres the tones incorrectly. Another possible cause is a noise on your telephone line, check your lines to see if you have noise, if you do, contact your provider. You may also have low audio on 1 of your lines, when you check for noise see if the incoming audio is the same on all lines. Other than this the phone system would have to looked at to determine if the DB levels are correct.

reset your phone to the company defaults.

I though that the battery or capacitor to hold the memory was in the s/w cartridge but I wasn't sure. I reprog a couple of things then cut the power and the system reset to default values again so it looks like I need a new DR5 cartridge. Thanks for all the help. F.K.

It plugs into an xICS or BCM cabinet. Do you have other phones like it, or are you trying to make one single phone work?

NorStar Lands... | Answered on Oct 20, 2008

The web site that I use for most of the older systems is www.wedophones.com. Just click on the manufactors name and scroll down to the system you are working on. Good luck

I guess you did not change it in the right way. It would help to know what system you have. Normaly through the system administration hit the change at the right mailbox and change the name. I hope this will help. Istvan

HI there,

Did you have the manual of the phone ready..?

NorStar Lands... | Answered on Jun 08, 2008

When we purchased our Norstar T7316E system, the rep set up BASIC as our password.

Can you please send me a copy of your manual?

NorStar Lands... | Answered on May 15, 2008

I found a manual for the Binatone SPEAKEASY 5, at https://www.manualslib.com/download/16048/Binatone-Speakeasy-5.html
But I couldn't find a manual for the Binatone SPEAKEASY 7 = Dick Smith F4536 (the Binatone website no longer works)
But it didn't solve my problem, which was that the phone was using pulse dialing, not DTMF. But on a BT Community page https://community.bt.com/t5/Archive-Staging/Pulse-Tone/td-p/149435 the last answer said to press a button and hold it for a few seconds. By trial and error I found that holding down the Mute button (when not on a call) switched to Tone (DTMF) dialing.
