Here is the Dell service manual page where it shows the disassembling of the Dell 1558.
You will have to remove the DVD module to eject the DVD

I have Dell Studio 1555 Laptop with Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, 3 GB DDR2, 320 GB HDD. I forgot BIOS/CMOS password. Now I am unable to change the CMOS settings. Please help me to remove BIOS password. I removed CMOS battery from laptop but it didn't work. Please help me. Ravi Paneri
1) You can reset BIOS to default settings by pressing <Alt><F>
2) I am not sure about the laptops, but in the Dell Desktops usually there is a reset jumper on the motherboard which is seated on 2pins out of 3, you just need to remove that jumper turn on the pc once and the turn on the pc again by reseating the jumper to its original place. You can try this with your laptop, I guess the jumper should be somewhere close to the CMOS battery.
3) Remove the battery and keep it away for atleast 30 mins. and replace it again.
NOTE: make sure while following step (3) and (4) the system should be completely turned off. Unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery and hold the power button for atleast 8 - 10 seconds.
let me know the output

there is no key for numlock on my Dell studio 15 keyboard
The num lock key is labeled as 'Num Lk' on the Dell Studio 15 keyboard. It is located above the =/+ key next to backspace.
To activate num lock, you cannot just press the button. You have to make sure the num lock light is on and then hold down Fn while using the numpad.
Hope this helps,

disc will not eject from dell studio laptop
try this first. go to the computer window then right click on the dvd icon then click on eject. if this fails then restart the computer once sees dell logo then keep tapping on f2 once you reach the bios screen press the eject button from the media control check if it will do. if fails since you are already in the bios screen look for the bios verion take note of it, exit the bios screen boot normally to windows. go to the internet support.dell.com to download the latest bios version. after downloading the latest bios i want you to uninstall the dvd firmware, go to the computer icon right click then properties, this will show you the properties windows then click on device manager, on the device manager window click on the + sign beside dvd / cd rom then underneath right click on the device driver then uninstall. reboot the computer. once you back in windows it will automatically reinstall the driver. if this fails thats the time you are going to flash the bios you previously downloaded.

I have tried 2 Dell Studio 15's both just power off suddenly at about 30 minutes after startup in the morning. I use the Dell recommended power settings and the computer is plugged in. I turn it back on and I get the Windows Error Recovery screen and do a normal reboot. After that it works fine all day. It seems to be just after the initial boot falling a normal shutdown. The bios has been updated.
Check the BIOS for PC Health settings. It is possible that you have put a low value for "Critical Temperature", which makes the Laptop to turn off.

Can't eject CD from Laptop, Dell studio 15
If you look at the front of the CD drawer you will see a little hole which will take a strong paper clip when it is straightened out.
Push the paper clip into that hole press firmly and the drawer will release so that you can get your disc out

Whenever i start my new Dell Studio laptop, even when there is no cd in the drive, it starts making this weird sound, as if it is trying to push the cd out. The annoying thing is that sometimes, this sound carries on for quite a while, and the auto-eject button on the panel lights on continously, even when i am not pressing it. Please help me as soon as possible.
if it is new I suggest that you call Dell Customer support. It is Free and they are very good.
