This might take some doing reseting the fs 1118 but it can be done if the fuser only got hit by a powersurge or overheated due to paperjam by the fuser...

press system menu/counter
select service settings via up and down cursor keys

now while pressing start key and # key press enter

then select maintenance mode by using the up down cursor key

press enter

enter 163 and then restart the copier...

sometimes you wont even be able to get to the service mode...

open the front of the copier and then execute the steps... the front meaning the area where you the toner is located...

trying keeping it open and do the steps...

if that fails then open it take out the toner drum cartridge and then put it back in...

then do the steps...

if it still doesn't take try it a couple more times...

if it still doesn't take.. buy a new fuser...

Error C6400 appears in Kyocera FS118 when Zero crossing signal problem occurs i.e when the engine PWB doesnt detect the zero crossing signal. This can occur due to --

#1 Poor contact in the connector terminals.
#2 Defective power supply PWB.
#3 Defective engine PWB.

To reset it from Mainatince mode turn the power switch off and open the front cover. Now, turn the power switch on and press the system menu/counter key to enter the maintenance mode.

1. Press the enter key. A selection item appears.
2. Select Execute using the up/down cursor keys.
3. Press the enter key. The fusing problem data is initialized. (Four service calls, namely C6000, C6020,
C6050, and C6400 are reset.)
4. After this is complete press the back key. The indication for selecting a maintenance item No. appears.

It means the exposure lamp is not turned on. Either a connector has come loose or the exposure lamp and/or the inverter pwb and/or the control pwb must be replaced

Check the toner sensor under the processing unit (PU). Remove the PU and you will see in the front left side, inside the machine, a black sensor (a black part with cross screw on it and a spring underneath it. There is a possibility that sensor to be dirty or damaged. An important question is... is the toner original or compatible with appropriate chip (toner id)?

If the code is C6400, then just follow the procedure showing in the images below. If the code is C6000, then you have to remove the fuser unit and check the thermistor, the thermal cut out and the heater lamp. If are able to fix the problem-damage, then follow the procedure below to reset the service call.
