Sams club warranty problem

The bulbs aren't normally covered after the first year. Some extended warranty companies used to cover the bulbs after that, but now since the economy is bad... a lot of companies are trying to save money by not covering the lamps anymore. And the ones that did are handing the warranties over to other companies. You probably will just have to buy one yourself or you will just be chasing your tail.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

Did not have an instruction

Hi,

I've located your instruction manual.
I couldn't direct link to the download page in the original location, so I've uploaded the file to Rapidshare for you. The manual is in PDF format in English:
http://rapidshare.com/files/436172089/19MF337B.pdf

Click on the above link and the download page will open in a new browser window. To download the file, you need to scroll to the bottom right-hand corner of the page and click on "Slow Download". You will need to wait up to 30 seconds before downloading, as indicated by the timer. When the timer reaches zero, click on "Download now!". SAVE the file (19MF337B.pdf) to an easy to remember location on your PC and when the download is complete, go to that location on your PC and double-click the file to open it. You will then be able to print the manual and retain a copy on your PC for future reference - or if the printed manual gets misplaced ;)

If you are unable to open the file, you will also need to download the latest version of Adobe Reader:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/

The file is about 4 MB so shoud take less than a minute to download if you have broadband. I have downloaded it myself to check that it is the correct file and verify it is virus-free.

Please post back if you have any difficulty downloading the file or you need further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric

Magnavox 27v502 TV won't turn

I had a very similar situation with my Phillips 42 in. LCD TV.

Here was my Problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened it up( Warranty was Expired) and found several faulty capacitors on the PSB. Its pretty common. Major Electronic companies were sold faulty capacitors that fail in 2-5 years instead of 10-20 due to a lack of preservatives. It wouldn't surprise me if you have the same problem. TV will work fine for a few years and then just fail completely or slowly deteriorate.

Here are the solutions
1. Have it Repaired
2. Check for faulty caps and if you find some(budged or leaking) you know you have located a problem
Remove the board and replace the whole thing.
3. If you have some soldering skills you can replace the faulty caps.
Caps are very inexpensive, under a dollar in most cases. I replaced 4 for about $5.00

Hope this Helps.
Good Luck

User manual for tv model # 20MS2333S

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies and Driver downloads as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

kristy alcor,

Sounds like a bad lamp. This is not a difficult replacement but the lamps are not cheap. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv which explains the replacement process, where to get quality parts at a good price and why you need to replace your lamp.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

I need to find a lamp i get sound but no picture

djackson4063,

You can find your lamp at http://www.encompass.com . Login as a guest. Input your model number in the model search slot. You will see a choice between two models. Choose yours or the first one. This will open up a list of parts. Scroll down to lamp and click on the part number. This will open a page with several choices and prices of lamps at the bottom of the page. The one for $110.00 (part number PHI378) is just the lamp and would require removing the old lamp from the housing and installing the new one correctly. If this is more than you think that you can handle order the one for $145.00 (part number SP.L6502G001-C) which is the entire assembly and does not need any additional work. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv which will help with the repair.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Our 50" plasma has a

The television shuts itself off and the light blinks in the front to protect itself when something is wrong with it. It will come back on a few times when unplugging and replugging but by doing that and not getting repairs done it has gone into a coma and will most likely not turn on again until it has been serviced. You can try leaving it unplugged for several days to see if you can get it to come back on.
