Is the bulb properly secured as well as the lamp door? Sometimes if just the lamp is replaced into the old housing, it is easy to mix up the securing screws and have a longer one where it does not belong and as a result not allowing the housing to push in all the way.
If all is well, then I would suspect a bad ballast and/or bad power supply, but just buying a new one may be an expensive route. If you are able to, check them visually to see if any capacitors on these boards are bulged, blown or popped. If so, then there is the cause of your problem.
Be careful with the voltages and make sure the TV is unplugged before opening. TVs can still hold very high voltages even after unplugged, enough to kill a person, so don't open the TV if you are not comfortable with it. A good repairman should do this instead.

Power light blinks, no pitcher, no sound

Hi little_an320,

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. The very common caused of this fault is the dried-up/leaky electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit and blinking error appear. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Also, bad solder joints can produce the same symptom, it is hard to spot, you should use table lamp/portable lamp for finding the cold solder. Secondary reason of fault is the open fuse/fusible resistor in series with the output of regulator IC/transistor, shorted/openRegulator IC/transistor, shorted zener diode(all are in the power supply section) and the microcontroller. Best that you check the output voltage of each regulator to determine where the fault came from and narrow the job.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

My picture screen looks dirty.

Please do us a favor and rate this solution after reading.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

hi,
first of all check the tint setting on your TV picture menu.
if not get the correct color then, your telivision is a dlp TV that means it have a color wheel in side. if the synchronization of color wheel is not correct this problem can occur. there is a sensor for counting the rpm of color wheel. also have a black mark on the color wheels rotating portion. the sensor scene this black mark for making count. if there is any dust in that portion it will make difficult to the sensor making the counts. you have to remove the color wheel to clean the same.
