that happened to me once. i deleted the email account and set up a new one. try that.

Mine gets into a funky state some times. Try to do a cold power reset. remove the battery, wait 10 secs, put it back in, put power into from the USB cable then try to power it up.

Your archos probably has a glitch in it. You might have to do a system recovery of it. First download the latest firmware program from Archos website. Here is a quick possible fix when the screen comes up reset the archos by inserting a paperclip in the reset hole located at the bottom of the unit right of the connectors it might work it might not. if that doesn't fix the problem do a hard reset when the logo screen comes up hold down the volume+ button until the white recovery page comes up. First try repairing the unit if that doesn't work try format and follow the instructions. the touch screen doesn't function during the recovery page so use the volume+&- buttons & power button. When you get done your archos should be set to factory presets so you have to set it up. Good Luck

Before you hook up to usb go into tools/settings/storage & see if your archos is set for pc hard drive mode which turns the unit into a external hard drive. That should fix it,Make sure you have a copy of the latest firmware downloaded onto your desktop from the Archos website before you try formatting or recovery functions. if that doesn't you might have to do a repair or format. You can try these functions in Customer assistance function in the tools/settings/customer assistance, but I have much better luck doing a hard reset. Sometimes the unit gets a glitch in it & you have to do a hard reset.
Turn on the power when the Archos screen comes on which has the Archos logo on it Immediately hold down the volume + button until the recovery page comes up

How old is your unit? Maybe your battery is dead The one good thing about having a Archos 7 is that you can change the battery easily. Have you backed up everything on your archos? I hate to say it but you might want to try repair , recovery or your last gasp format the unit.
Try using the tools/settings/customer assistance function first. I have not had good luck with tough problems using that function, you might have to do a hard reset.

How old is your router? I found out that you have to have a newer g or n router the old b router will not work too slowor something

The reset button is on the bottom of the unit. You will see two holes right next to each other it is the one that is close to the center of the case, you will need a paper clip to reset the unit. In case my description is unclear it is to the right of the connectors on the bottom of the unit.

I recommend using a good wireless router, when you buy the A5 it comes with the web & email functions. The email capabilities are questionable though I have hotmail & it locks up a lot. The web functions work well, just make sure you have a good wireless router setup.

Try replacing the batteries.

It's worth a shot, is there a pan control somewhere in the settings? These settings act as a cross fade between the right and left stereo signal. If its on all the way left or all the way right, you won't get sound out of one phone. Also have you tried to use a different pair of phones? The only other thing it could be is if there are internal volume/gain controls. My iPod has these. It limits the max volume I can get out of it. It may have been turned on some how. If it's not any of those, then i'm afraid you have a faulty headphone jack. It may be need to be sent in for warranty, or repair. If this is the case, you could in the mean time fanagle it a bit... Sometimes if you pull a phone out of the jack just a touch it creates a short in the jack which sends the single thru as mono. Hope that helps.

restart the system. press and hold power button until it goes off, then try it again.

try to reset the system. it might mean u will have to lose files, but u can back up first....

OK, first remove the four little screw covers on the rear. They should pop out very easilly (as after 2 months of ownership two of tham had already dropped out anyway), Undo the screws. The back is in three sections, a large middle bit and two smaller pieces at either end. By removing the first 4 screws you have allowed the unclipping of the two side pieces. Once you've popped these off you will see 4 more screws, 2 on each side. Undoing these allows the front panel to be removed.Thats as far as I needed to go Im afraid as I was able to establish that I have a broken on/off switch from this point which caused my problems. without the video podcast plugin you can only use wmv and avi formats if you have the plugin then mp4 quicktime and ipod video should work.. Following lisks are for free Archos games and movies. Movies actualy for psp but as i said if you have plugin they shoul work or you can convert them to avi or wmv

You need a gps dock goes for the unit Gps dock has TMC and Satellite antenna without it it wont work of course that it is the reason it shuts off. not recognizing the antenna
