Generac 100 Amp 120/240-Volt Transfer Switch #RTSN100A3 Questions & Answers
Why does my generac 6250 does not generate any electricity ?
The AVR is dead. remove the back cover and remove it. it's a rectangular shaped plastic container with cables located at 12'o clock of the alternator. make sure to write down color an position of cables or better yet, take pictures. once you have it outside look for the numbers located on top of the bar code and input those numbers in the part number locator tab of http://www.partstree.com/parts/ and replace it. Regards
For these 4 control wires.
No. They are fine. The voltage is 220. But the amperage is nearly nothing because its just for signaling the generator and switch when the powers out. I install, repair, and service generac products for a living.
I have a generac model 04760 had electrision out
Yes. He is not a qualified generac technician or dealer. Sound like you need a control board. I recommend you find a generac authorized dealer to get a Tech out to fix it. I do it everyday at this electrical company.
What should be cable type and size for the mains
This is not a simple question. If you intend to run the full 100A and want to use 2core and earth pvc cable then you need 50mm squared cross section conductors BUT if the cable is long you need to consider the voltage drop and may need a larger cross section cable. If yor want to run armoured cable, you can use 25mm squared conductors, but again you must take length into consideration
Here's the info on the transfer switch. The
What do you mean by "there's no power to the disconnect switch"?
Is it the feeder from the mains or from emergency generator?
If it is the input from mains and you don't have voltage on it, this should make the generator to start, if automatic start is selected and thus give voltage to the other feeder (emergency), the switch goes on and the consumers have power.
If you have power on your mains feeder, you don't need voltage on your "emergency" feeder. Then the consumers should be supplied by your mains contactor.
Transfer switch wont transfer to standby
Is the transfer switch part of the generator or a separate product?
Do the electronics on the generator properly sense the loss of power from the incoming power line?
I strongly suggest that you have the generator serviced. Under no circumstances do you want to place a back channel feed onto the power lines. It could end up killing a power company worker who believes he/she is working on a dead circuit.
Don
When utility power goes out,
Hello. the generator controller relies upon a voltage drop sensor and a 15 second timer to turn the generator to on. Any one of these three components could be the issue. If you are electronically minded and have a volt meter you could test each component, otherwise you will have to call youe electrician to isolate the problem and correct it. Regards, Joe
Generator Transfer Problem
There isn't much you can do with servicing the generator set or transfer switch unless you've got lots of experience in diagnoising semi-conductors and electronic components.
Depending on the age of the system, it would be benificial to have a qualified service tech take a look at it.
As an electrician, I've installed several back up generator sets in homes for customers and have had a few of these automatic transfer switches with intermittent operation issues. Sometimes it's the switch and other times it's the Generator that is causing the problems.
Hope this helps, and best regards!
I have no ac power output, but motor runs fine!
if you dont have the field excitation then you'll never get any AC no matter how your motor runs..field excitation comes in two types..one is by pole magnets and two is by field coils connected to a battery..
