My kohler 12res starts but governor moves constantly which makes my voltage erratic
this is a common complaint to these , what it boils down to is allways a fuel problem , if its gasolene then its in the carb if it's nat gas then it's in the regulator/vaporizer you'll have to clean these items to see if that helps . someof those liguid cleaners sometimes works but i find a good dissassembly cleaning to be the best
Kohler 30RES Generator LOC code coolants ok
How old is the 30RES? unplug the low oil sensor on the radiator and see if it runs, they are notorious for failure and have to be filled in the radiator to the brim. If it runs order a new sensor, I have replaced many of them for this reason, but more often the radiator seems full by dipping finger in, but will always take more coolant. The sensor is mounted so high up in the radiator. I ask the age as newer ones require a signal to be maintained and it isn't just a simple ground if low on coolant, if it has 3 wires then disconnecting for the above test will not work

Check the battery charger whether an external one is installed or the optional one ion the transfer switch. Measure the voltage on the battery it should be at least 13.8V if it is only 12V then the charger is suspect. Also if it is an external charger plugged into a receptacle make sure that the 120V receptacle is hot (GFI's) tend to trip in a storm
How do you check the slator to see if it is any good useing a multymeter
You must first disconnect ALL the stator wires to prevent a bad reading. You MUST have a good meter, cheap ones will not do. Put the meter on Ohms and put the probes together, note reading (this is the resisitance of the meter wires and this reading will need deductiong from the test readings). You will need a service manual to know what that actual values should be at what ambient temp. They are normally very low less than 1 ohm so cheap meters won't read. Check each wire with one lead and the other to the stator metal ground. You should have ZERO any value here is a short. Then check between each pair and read the value (many stators have multi windings T1,T2, Q1 Q2, B1 B2 etc, so you need to make sure you measure across each pair.. Generally values are 1 ohm or less

Check the rotor slip rings for tarnish as it has sat.If they are clean, the rotor may have lost it's magnetism and may need flashing (putting DC power directly on it for approx 3 seconds) with brush wires disconencted POLARITY IS CRITICAL
Kohler Generator has a noEc error code
My 11 month old Kohler 14RESL stopped working sometime this month. The GFI outlet to the trickle battery charger tripped and the battery charger went dead and so did the battery. When I realized the GFI had tripped, I reset it and the trickle battery charger started recharging the battery overnight. In the morning I tried to start the generator by pushing the run button - nothing happened except a message 'noEc' appeared on the status screen. I called Kohler and was referred to their local distributors.
After a whole day of phone calls to many distributors, I finally found one, Kraft Power, who would come out on an overtime basis and fix the problem. I chose Kraft Power because they were the only company who knew what 'noEc' meant. They told me that since the generator had lost all power (no trickle battery charger), the engine had lost it's configuration!
I have worked in the technical field for 25 years (computers, networks and remote diagnosis) so this answer was particularly troubling. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. The technician had to connect to the port on the controller, bring up Site Tech on his laptop, and enter two pieces of of information into the configuration. 1) 14RESL and 2) the engine type. We had to use a mirror to read the engine type as it was under the oil filter!

There MUST be a generator attached to the engine of your genset to recharge the battery as starting current greatly reduces the charge of the battery. The solar panel was designed to "trickle" the battery to keep the battery "fresh".

Normally fault codes are letters? I am not familiar with that code at all. You may have got the control in some configuration setup code 3P0(X) is for raising and lowering the voltage where X is a number from 1-9 for increase
