I have a new 735 Dewalt planer - it does not feed

I believe this is probably the first time you have used this planer correct?
I would run several pieces through before you try anything you will be concerned with getting oil on. There may be excess oil on the rollers that will take a bit to get off. If you are concerned about this it will not hurt to clean the rollers. Taking it apart for general maintenance and to inspect and change the blades is a good idea. Especially if this is all new for you. It never hurts to become familiar with something before you need to.
Although the diagrams I included are may seem complicated (and you may already have them as well), Take some time to look them over and become familiar with the workings of your planer. The DW735 is a pretty good portable planer. Hope this helps.

My dewalt 735 planer is uneven side to side now,

Go to the Dewalt site and download the blow up of the machine and the parts list. Also get the manual and do the instructions to replace the knives. Take a look at the unit exposed and take the leg apart that is causing the problem and replace level.

I bought a second hand (dewalt-DW677XE) planer and

I didn't really fix the problem as such because when I check the product number, it wasn't compatible with any of their products. My product number is DW677E-Planer.

I will just have to ask my tradesman to look at it and see if he can figure out how to use it properly without the users manual.

Thank you.

How much should good scaffold brick guards cost me?

These should be expensive, but they are nothing of the sort. You can pick up quality scaffold brick guards online for as little as £3.99. I use a company called BrikGard because they use 100% recycled plastic scaffold brick guards. I like to be as environmentally friendly as possible without compromising quality or increasing the purchase cost too much. Given that their brick guards are so cheap and made from 100% recycled plastic, I feel safe using them. Also, anyone working on-site should consider using a brick guard because it offers that extra layer of peace of mind so you can get focused on the job without worrying about things like falling debris coming down and striking you. For affordable scaffold brick guards, I would check out BrikGard.
