Murray riding mower 12.5 hp briggs & stratton

Drain oil... it is full of gasoline due to a bad float pin and rubber gromet in your carb. When your float pin and gromet fail, gas just keeps flowing into your carburetor, eventually flooding your motor with gas and oil mix.

WHAT LUBE GOES IN TRANSAXEL

I believe that's a tecumseh trans axle. They really aren't a serviceable part. But it you're brave... Yeah I've torn them apart to replace bearings and such. I never found a "spec" for the lube but it's really heavy. I used a nice sticky molly grease when ever I put one back together.

How do i set the gov. on a craftsman LT1000 riding mower the motor model is 917-271652 ?

if there is a governor, it is most likely part of the engine. You will need the engine model number to look that up.

My Craftsman lawn tractor will run for a while and then stop then sometimes after sitting for a while will run again. What should I check? I added fuel additive to gas just incase the fuel was bad.

Drain the fuel tank. Dispose of the gasoline responsibly. Replace the fuel line between the tank and the carburetor. Put fresh gas in the tank. See how long it runs. While you're at it, change the oil and remove any debris from the cooling fins on the engine. It may be overheating. If it still doesn't run, you probably failed to replace the fuel line. Trust me, this is part of good maintenance for these machines.

I have loss of power on my tractor when blade and transmission are engaged. Engine sputters and backfires.

We're assuming that nothing has been done to diagnose your problem. I personally would start by removing the carburetor bowl and check for any contamination of either water or any other form of contaminants. If anything is found clean the carburetor bowl all out. The carburetor bowl I'm referring to sits on the very bottom of the carburetor and normally is held on with a brass colored plug or it will have a fuel shut off solenoid which will have a single wire that can be disconnected. Both styles( plug or solenoid) can be removed with a 1/2 wrench. If it is the electric solenoid style you may have to sacrifice one of your wrenches by grinding it down for there's not much room between the solenoid and the carburetor bowl. Care will have to be taken when reinstalling the bowl for the seal can fall away from where it should sit and can be pinched causing a leak. Start there and if that's not your problem we'll check other common options.

Does the commutator end cap part # 12-227-11-s clamp on to your old bruches?

If you had it apart and know your brushes are good, you could just order the part specified, but if I was you I would get the part and the brush kit. The brush wire actually has an eye fitting that bolts to the cap. You might have a pinched wire or, the wires might be brittle and when you go to remove the brushes, could break apart. For your parts, google the number along with Kohler and see if you cant get it cheaper from somewhere else. In my experience, Sears is only comparable if they stock it in store and you live near by.

When i let the brake pedal go my egine stalls\

If shift lever is in reverse and/or you are not on the seat, this is normal. Otherwise, either the seat switch or the reverse switch may be bad. You can jump the switches temporarily to test that theory.

Blade loose cannot get spindle off

Sounds like you should remove the deck, flip it upside down and use the blade to hold the spindle while you remove the bolt. if its still too hard to remove, spray it with wd40 or liquid wrench and wait a while and try it again.

My craftsman LT 1000 wouldn't start, it's silent. I changed my battery - still the same.

1. try jumping your mower battery with your car/battery and see if it cranks. If it does, charge your battery. If it doesnt 2. try jumping directly from battery to starter. If that works, its your starter solenoid. If it doesnt, 3. change the starter. I would need engine model number in order to find your part numbers.
