Why will my brand new Craftsman Pressure Washer not start?
Any gasoline engine needs 3 things to run. Fuel, Air and Spark.
Open the cover on the air filter box and inspect the condition of the actual filter. It should be clean and not wrapped in plastic. Yes, It does happen! Look in the hole the filter covers to check theres no dirt it there. Refit the filter.
Remove the spark plug but push it back into the plug lead. Using a pair of insulated grips hold the sparking end against the metal on the engine block. Get a helper to pull the start cord 3 or 4 times and watch the plug. Your looking for a nice bright blue spark across the gap on the plug. If you are in any doubt replace the plug anyway with a decent brand name.
Next get as close to the open plug hole as you can and sniff. Can you smell gasoline? Refit the spark plug.
Take a close look at the fuel tank and find the pipe supplying fuel to the carburettor. at the tank end is there a small twist valve mounted on the tank that the fuel pipe comes off? This is called a 'Petcock'. It is a fuel shut off valve for long term storage.
If there is one there take a close look at it and it should be marked as 'ON', 'OFF' and 'RES'. There should be an arrow on the lever but it is often too small to see clearly. Twist it so the short end of the lever is pointing at the ON position.
If none of these checks help you may need to return the unit to the store you bought it from as it might just simply be a faulty example.
Craftsman Zero Turn Z530 46 inch blades won't engage???
Belt-the number one cause for your blades not to engage is that your belt is either stretched or loose causing it to slip or fall off completely. Belt could have snapped also. When you are trying to process too much grass/leaves they could pack up under your deck and push off your belt.
Snow blower will not start. put fresh gas and changed oil and cleaned spark plug.
You need to remove the carb and clean the jets. They are most likely plugged or gummed up. Make sure to hold them up to a light so you can see through them. Also this will verify if it is indeed a carb issue>>> take the spark plug out and put about a teaspoon of fuel down the spark plug hole. Put the plug back in and try and start it. It should fire right up and then stall out in 1-2 seconds. If it only will run on gas that you put down the plug hole then you will need to clean those jets in the carb.
I have a Craftsman ZT S7500 Mower that runs 5 min. then stops wait 5 or 6 min. it will restart then shut down
My first thought is fuel delivery but could be other.
To determine if its fuel or spark, run it until it fails. Then try starter fluid directly into the carburetor. If it fires and runs for a few seconds then it's a no fuel issue. If it cranks but does not fire, then more likely a no spark issue.
To successfully use starter fluid you need to remove the air filter assembly and spray a one second burst of fluid directly into the exposed carburetor throat and then promptly attempt to start.

Yes I see this is old stuff but just let me help out in case someone today is searching,
Anyway if this is a rear engine rider snapper make sure you have your 1 inch play between the idler (small one) and the belt if more it will shake your teeth out haha...Ta da! Look up belt diagram for rear engine rider if needed it will show you the right idler.
