Slide out the staple carriage to receive the staples. load some. Push the carriage into the gun and make sure it securely latches. There is a wire(rule) guide to let you know how many staples are left. if carriage jams use less staples.

I believe the two shafts are conjoined (one slides inside the other). Rust jacking may cause them to seize together. Liberally apply penetrating oil at the point where they meet and try to work them loose.

Likely the seat switch. It doesn't see an operator in the seat but can be reverse swirch or PTO switch or a short to frame. It requires further troubleshooting to determine exact cause.

Question edited for full 'make model (what it is)'. Question moved from Cars and Trucks to Garden Tractor. 'Cranking' is the engine turning. So it doesn't even turn, just 'tries' to turn? Check battery for voltage and CCA (cold cranking amps). Or the engine cranks, fires and runs, you engage drive and it stops? Best guess for that is strip and clean the carburetor.

Probably something wrong with the mount. You have a photo?

Issue is in the primer block on carb. may be plugged. On diaphragm side needle may be stuck. You have to take the carb apart and clean it, or possibly replace the metering & diaphragm membranes. Kit is about $8, and how to do it is on many youtube videos. Have fun.

The serial number should give you that information. It is located on the frame under the seat or on the underside of the seat itself. If it is the Kohler engine there will also be a serial number sticker on the upper right side of the engine. These numbers should help identify the model you have. These can also help when you need to order parts.

Likely it is only running on one cylinder.

personally I would replace the belt, it operated in a dirty area. belts also have a life.
