My gun was new in 2012 can I adjust the safey or remove it

Hitachi sells an adjustable foot attachment that makes it easy to adjust for using your framing gun to install siding or other use where you want more control of how deep the nail sets. Do not remove the safety. Contact hitachi dealer for the accessory. Good luck

To find the model number, look on ebay for hitachi framers and hopefully you will find one listed that looks like yours. If no joy, take the gun to your local fastener/nailgun dealer for parts. The dealer most likely has box full of used parts for your gun. I have seen many older nailers with bent safety foot that caused the plunger to stick in the engaged position. Some nailers have the safety return spring incorporated within the trigger plunger /valve area and still others that have the spring hidden under a guard on one side of the nailer (guard part # 883493). Look under the main body of the nailer for an indention where one side of the safety spring fits into (less than 1/2 inch in diameter) ; directly below the indention will be a point on the safety foot to catch the other side of the spring. Good luck

How to you replace the recoil spring, is there a

Not sure which model you have but there are usually screws on each side of the magazine where it is held on to the nose. Remove those screws and the one that holds the bracket at the rear of the gun body. Once you remove the magazine you should be able to see how the spring is held into place. If you have the model number you can find a tool diagram for it here;

My older 3 1/2' hitachi nail gun will shoot one

You may need a rebuild kit of the O rings, and, for certain added lubrication. The return stroke of the nailers require that all the parts move easily and dried out or "dead" O rings are a common problem causing failure to return properly.

When i hook up the compressor pipe all the air

You have broken or out of place o-rings in the gun. Unfortunately Hitachi doesn't make rebuild kits for their guns, you have to order each o-ring and seal you need to rebuild one. www.ereplacementparts.com is a good place to find a breakdown of your gun, you can also buy parts there or get the part numbers you need and shop the internet for prices. If you decide to do this make sure to liberally grease up the o-rings while reassembling the gun and get each o-ring back in its proper place.

Fires 2 & 3 nails every so often.

Most all nail guns can be converted to single fire, however, usually parts must be changed. Some brands have two positions on the trigger, others have a button position near the trigger to accomplish same. Check with dealer or email your gun model # and I will explain your to fix. For now you can replace the spring on the safety with one slightly stiffer. Also try nailing with trigger depressed and quickly bump the gun to fire, this method usually works better than placing the gun in position then firing. Good luck with your repair.

GUN NOT SETTING NAILS

Hello jsc.... the depth that the nailer drives the nail is dependent upon two factors, the hardness of the material you are driving the nail into and the air pressure. Generally when you want the nail to go in more you adjust the air pressure to a higher setting, going 5 psi at a time until you are close to perfect and then fine tuning the air pressure.

Sometimes people find that the air compressor itself is inadequate for the job. in that case, the only choice is to move up to a higher psi compressor. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

My hitachi nailer is not firing. Sounds as if the

This sounds like the nailer is not in the "home" position. Usually this is due to a leak in the o-ring or a lack of lubrication that is not allowing the plunger to return to the home position. If you can get an O-ring kit, I'd replace all of the orings and make sure that everything is properly lubricated. Should that not fix the problem, the next likely candidate would be the trigger assembly itself. The O-ring kit will run about $20 or so and a similar amount for the trigger assembly.

Hope this helps,

Hitachi nr90ad framing nail gun fires one nail then will not retract fully and dry fires. Have to push firing rod back manually.

Have you disconnected it from the air source and deep cleaned the nail gun? Sometimes even a tiny bit of dirt can block the rails the rod runs in. Once cleaned add a small amount of oil to the rod runners.

I put 10 drops of oil in my Hitachi pin nailer and it still doesn't set the pins all the way down .

It is possible that the oil you added to your Hitachi pin nailer isn't the correct type or that it has not been added in the correct amount. You should refer to the manual that came with the pin nailer to determine the correct oil type and the proper amount to use. If this does not resolve the issue, you may need to take your pin nailer to a technician for repair.

I have 3 Hitachi benders VB 16Y and works only when it wants too. I plug in and press trigger and some times works and other times does not work , also checked the brushes and there is plenty left.

I know nothing about these tools but Hitachi produce quality gear that isn't usually prone to intermittent faults. If I was faced with your situation I would check the power cord for internal breaks and check the internal connections and then investigate the functioning of any safety device that might be incorporated into the design - such a powerful tool would surely have safety built in or modern legislation would never allow them to be used on site. It was just a sort of gut feeling as it seems to be the built in safety that fails on many tools...
