Porter Cable 10,000 Watt 20 Hp Portable Generator #H1000IS W... Questions & Answers
10,000 watt porter cable generator will not
Why generators do not generate electricity
1. Fault phenomenon
When the generator set speed reaches the rated speed, the AC exciter stator excitation circuit switch is closed and the voltage regulator is adjusted to the maximum value when the generator speed reaches the rated speed.
2. failure cause
The generator core remanence disappears or is too weak, the newly installed unit is disturbed by long-distance transportation or the generator is placed for too long, the generator core remanence disappears or the remanence inductance is weak, which results in the generator remanence voltage vanishing or less than the normal remanence voltage value.

The wiring diagram on page 22 of this manual is color correct. You should be able to safely use this diagram. It is the best one I have seen. It is best to locate the wires do the resistance checks per the chart on page 9 below and then make your connections. I know I could connect the wires using this diagram no problem.

See page 9 about red to green and black to orange resistance readings and the 2 pink capacitor stator wires:

your engine is siezed up, a condition often caused by not having adequate oil in the crank case. The problem could be relatively minor or quite serious. the only way to find out is to get it torn apart. if this is outside of your knowledge base then i would call a few mechanics or ask at a few auto parts stores.
Porter-Cable generator won't power anything; engine runs, low rpm
You have a simple problem and it has nothing to do with the octane, honda's love better gas, thats all I use in all my equipment and even my 4000 psi pressure washer runs better and cooler with higher more efficient octane, Your problem is in the carb, clean and service it, make sure the air breather is clean (soap and water only if it is a foam unit and do not spray it with any oil) then check for water in the gas by draining the tank into a large clear glass container 1/2 gal at a time. and after all this is done and needs to be done anyway, change the spark plug run the unit and make sure the throttle up solenoid is adjusted properly or even working if this unit is equipped with one. good luck

Check the small relays first, lightly tapping on them wile on may tell you the one that is bad but not all ways , if thats not it,Pull the circuit board and test or have a old tv repairman test the Diode's/resistor's on the board, if you find a bad one and do not know how to read the rating, take a digital close up picture of it and email it to one of many people selling diodes or resistor's on Ebay, buy it , solder it in.
