Tom,The one for metal will almost certainly have the smallest teeth. Sometimes the metal one will a wavy tooth set - that is, if you viewed the blade from the front, there is a sine-wave shape to the tooth set pattern. (Tooth set means the tips of the teeth are bent a little bit to the left or right to make the cut just a little wider than the rest of the blade so that it doesn't get stuck in the cut.)Good luck.

You have a set screw on the side of the blade holder, usually an allen head, some jig saws have a clamp through the top, a screwdriver down through the top will grab it. Check it out.

On the top of the Makita 4304T is a knob, (Top/Front)
This is the blade Installing Lever.

Viewing the jigsaw in the direction you would use it, the Installing Lever is turned towards the Right. Keeping it turned, you then install the jigsaw blade. Once you have the blade up in the Blade Holder, gently release the Installing Lever.

They all either have a screw at the side of the blade holder, or some have a hole in the top of the machine where a screwdriver is inserted and a screw loosened to release the blade, and retightened once the new blade is inserted.

Just join the two wires together if they work by providing current, or disconnect if they work by being open circuit. Microswitches are normally safety related so bypassing them is not recommended. First thing I would check are the Carbon Brushes. The are # 75 in the picture

If you have removed the kerf boards and the center bolt the saw will lift straight off the turn base. It is possible the aluminum is deformed a little, but it will pull straight up and off if that bolt is out
