George: There is a packing or valve in the pump that is supposed to keep water in the pump. Either a packing (O ring) or a one-way valve has failed. If it is a "one way valve" there may be a piece of gunk holding the valve open allowing the prime to drain out of the pump.

the pressure shut off control switch is not working or adjusted properly.

check for foreign objects jamming the impeller. have the motor tested for failure.

pull the foot valve as it takes very little to allow the water to drain back out. Personally I would replace all pipes in the hole with heavy duty /high pressure plastic agricultural irrigation pipes

take the screws out of the bottom of the pump maybe sand in the impeller.that pump s/b off the bottom of the pit on like a brick or something

check the pressure control switch for correct operation

most pumps arent made to be rebuilt and should just be replaced , its not worth fixing something and have it just go bad again.

could be something plugging the impeller,theres I think 3 screws to remove the bottom check if some small stones are plugging it up.that pump should be installed off the bottom of the pit like on a patio block or the like.unplug the cord before messing with it.

Its pretty comen for minisepal pipes to burst during a big storm due to more presure, also more lickly in winter. i lookt up the pump bt dident realy get speks on it bt i will bet that there is ground in the bilt in filter of the pump, cleaning that out is not recomended if u dont know how, i would get a plumber in and also install a big filter befor the pump to ensure that it dosent hapen in the future.

I am a plumber and if u do want to try to clean it ur self ill read up about ur pump and direct u. thast let me know.

It depends on how many amps the motor is. #14 wire will handle up to 7 amps at 100 feet. If it is less than 7 amps it should be okay. If the wire gets very warm after running then you may have to go with #12.

The easiest way to be sure is to meter the cord and see if you have 5-10 ohms across the lines and infinite resistance on each to the ground prong. You are better served to use a high output voltage tester as compared to a small hand-held 9 volt meter for testing grounds. It is likley the motor is shot though and the unit will need to be replaced.

Check the continuity of the service wires. If they are good, check the resistance of the windings. You may have an open motor windings.

These should be expensive, but they are nothing of the sort. You can pick up quality scaffold brick guards online for as little as £3.99. I use a company called BrikGard because they use 100% recycled plastic scaffold brick guards.
