When no photos left on card
There is usually a Bar-graph showing the amount of space left on the card, and there is also another bar-graph that shows hown much memory left the card has before it stops taking more photos. Either way, thousands of photos can be stored in a single 500gb card alone. But if you're concerned on how much memory is left in a card, you can find out by going to Settings and looking into Memory. It all depends on whether it is a mobile phone with a camera or just a digital camera. Instructions that come with these devices usually explains all about their performances. Good luck.

the inverter on the LCD has gone out unfortunately the only thing you can do is replace the LCD and by the time you do that you would have come out way cheaper buying another camera. Not a very feasable or cost effective replacement option

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
