It sounds like the vent pipe may be clogged.

Unfortunately the systems are desiged to pump out. The disintegrated screen thing is part of the maceration end of the system. Your going to have to clean the thing out and replace the macerator.

unlikely to be a vent problem - more likely a semi blocked 22mm outlet - hence the problem with the old unit & the new one. Tricky to solve as 22mm pipe runs are too small for conventional pipe cleaners. Some plumbers use compressed air to clear, others us pressured water (jetter) unfortunately it always ends up a bit messy.

Some wall mount toilets can have the cistern fitted on the other side of the wall the bowl is mounted to so it appears 'Hidden'. Your float valve adjustment will be in there.

I know absolutely nothing about the Saniflo system other than the very basic working principle but logically there must be a vent or an airbreak between the macerator/pump unit and the toilet bowl or the pump would tend to create a depression in the container and draw water from the toilet bowl...

That sounds like the issue. Saniflo provide them, so contact them for a free one. Article says it is inside the pressure vessel.
