There might be a "maintanance" function in your computers printer properties that has a ink counter reset button. Most printers have these now. If for some reason it does not have it you will need to contact Epson to find out how. To get to the Maintanance area follow these instructions.

Click on "Start" then go to "Printers and Faxes" (if there is no option then go to "Control Panel" to get to the printer area) Click on "Printers and Faxes" This will open a window that has your printer in it. Right Click on your printer and then go down to "Properties" and left click "Properties". This should bring up a Printer function window and in the top tabs one should say "Maintanance" Click on the Mainanance tab and with in this window there should be an "ink" button that you will click. Within here you will then or should find a reset ink counter.

If this is a new cartridge, open the front cover and remove all cartridges. Be sure the protective film has been removed from the cartridge prior to installation.

Inspect the contacts on the new cartridge for damage. Replace the cartridges in the correct place, close the front cover and power the printer down and then up again.

As your printer is not wireless itself you need to shared the printer. To enable this goto Control Panel on your desktop, select printers, right click your printer and there should be an option for sharing. Enable sharing.
Now using your Vista laptops you should connect to your home network (in your case this is probably a wireless router, as long as your desktop is connected to this router too), goto Control Panel, printers, add printer, search for printer not connected to this copmputer (or network printer).
Hopefully the Vista laptops will then pick it up and install it correctly. You may be asked to install the correct driver for the vista machines. Windows should provide you with instructions on how to do this.

LMB Click on Start - Printers and Faxes - RMB click on the default printer (Little tick by the icon).

Select "Printing Preferences" and there should be a small box next to the title "Greyscale printing".

Check said box and off you go.

You can view on-screen instructions for replacing an ink cartridge using the printer maintenance utilities.,click the button on the Maintenance tab. then select Ink Cart Replacement and follow the instruction from there on.

Usually you can find that the top of the printer can be lifted open. You will then see the three ink cartridges. remove each cartridge and see how low the ink level is if there's a centimeter or more it should not need changing. However some brands will force you to replace them all. or it won't accept that you have followed the directions.

You would appear to be printing your pictures as a document rather than a picture.

When you click print a dialogue boox should open with a properties button, click on the and select photo.

If the printer still thinks the cartridges have some ink in them (ink light blinking, but NOT SOLID RED), it won't move the carridges into place- this only happens when they are completely empty. if you want to change them MANIUALLY you will have to look for "changing ink" in your manual- usually, but not alwyas done by holding down the INK button for 3 seconds, but like I said- check the manual, and if you don';t have it, downlaod from EPson website

goto printer properties and under the utility tab, print the nozzle check print out to see which color is missing.. if your picture is only in Cyan color, most probably your Yellow and Megenta is clogged.. try doing the print head cleaning and see if there is any improvement to your print out.

If you look under the lid access door of your printer it has a diagram of how to do that

Replace colour inki, or just reset in level counter using hardware resetter. Or replace chip with auto reset chip.

Go on EBay and look on there. I am sure you will find someone to deliver ink.

Hello there This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.
