Did you remove the ink cartridge when you did the head cleaning and nozzle check, if so, did you touch the copper circuit chip on the cartridge? . . The chip is normally what tells the printer how much ink is remaining in the cartridge and if it cannot read this, it may not recognise that the cartridge is genuine and still has ink remaining inside. . . .You can try cleaning the chip with a soft dry cloth otherwise you may have to install a replacement cartridge. . . Just go on google and visit the Epson website and search for the name and model of your product. You will probably get to download the drivers

The first thing to do would be to system preferences then print and fax in the left hand column click on the "+" sign then select your printer. Then your macbook will autoselect the print driver. If your print driver is not there it will more than likely come up with Print using "Generic Driver" or something like that. If it autoselects the correct epson driver you will be off and running. Sometimes there is a buildup of air in the port that accepts the cartridge. Get a thin flexible hose (the kind people who breathe oxygen into their nose use) and cut it to around a foot long. Remove the cartridge and place the tube over the port shaped like a small bullet and **** on it hard a few times to draw out the air. A tiny bit of ink may appear on the end of the tube. Put in a cartridge and do a cleaning. If this doesn't help try printing again in photo mode only.

I had the same problem.Solution: The black don't print in standard resolution (regular paper)Set your printer in higher quality paper and your black will print.This is another problem with Epson nx 415..................Good luck !!

The paper might be damp or too thin. Try using a thicker paper and then update me if that solved it before rating my answer.

I have mine apart right now trying to fix it. I was able to get my paper jam fixed (had the same problem) by putting another piece of paper through when it tried to roll the jammed paper out.

you should wipe and clean the copper contact to where the terminals inside the printer touches. Use a clean clothe moistened with alcohol for cleaning.

If the red light is still on the printer, and Status Monitor indicates that an ink cartridge is not recognised, follow the steps below:

1. Power the printer OFF.
2. Disconnect the power lead for 60 seconds.
3. Reconnect the power lead. Do not power the printer on yet.
4. Perform a printer operation check.

i found out a site that offers cheeper compatible ink cartridges... try to check out this site: http://www.swiftink.com/Epson-Stylus-NX415-Ink-Cartridges-s/3544.htm. they do offer warranty should these inks dont work.. and they are safer to use because they do have quality control even thought its remanuctured.

The cheapest can be get from ebay. or pound shop.

if the ink cartridges are installed and you have installed the driver to your computer... there will be an incorporated status monitor. all you got to do if you have a windows operating system is to go to printers and faxes then click on preferences.. you will be able to see which one is low or with and x which indicates replacement..... if you have other operating systems i suggest that you download the epson status monitor from their website..... www.epson.com

The cartridge nozzle is closed by a tape just remove it, and shake well.

If the cartridge is not the same code as the previous used by the printer, then it will not be compatible. Your printer has been replaced by Epson Stylus NX415 All-in-One

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages,then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.
