My polaroid widescreen lcd tv/dvd

It's a backlight or backlight inverter issue. (The backlight itself usually fades or makes the on-screen image change to pink/red.) With a bad backlight, you'll usually see a very dim image if you look at the TV from an inch from the screen. Block the room light from overwhelming this image (sometimes a carefully positioned flashlight will help you see something). If the inverter or video board is bad, you will see nothing. For an out-of-warranty TV, open up the back of the TV and remove the shielding. Look for any scorch marks or bulging or damaged capacitors. (Sometimes other parts will fail on this part but these can be spotted easily. Capacitors look like cylinders on a tripod.) The scorch mark and smoke may indicate a resistor or zener diode that had been used as a fuse and is now gone.

If you borrow (or have a) high-end multimeter (able to measure high frequencies - 50 kHz) or an oscilloscope, hold the multimeter probes a fraction of an inch apart about an inch above the inverter board and power up the TV. If you see a 1 or an actual value, you have a good inverter. If you see a reading near 0, the board is bad or the multimeter can't resolve the frequency.

In either case, you can buy a replacement inverter for $50-150 and just do a simple swap. Disconnect all of the wires (connections are similar to molex and ribbon cables in a computer) and remove board (a few screws usually). Connect the cables to the new inverter. (If you google backlight inverter replacement, you'll find videos and text descriptions.) Note the part number on the board, including the Rev number, and order the exact one (shopjimmy.com or lcdparts.net are good starting points). Universal inverters do exist but can result in reversed controls (up to lower the brightness). Replacing individual parts on the board is cheaper but more prone to not tracking down all of the bad parts.

If the inverter is good, then it's probably backlights themselves (several in most TVs). These are sandwiched on the perimeter of the TV (usually under some tape that holds the lamp, reflector and other parts together. You need to order by length and width and get ones for your TV size. Separate the panel from the bezel. Remove the tape, and separate the reflector (make a note of how things are put together) then you have to Dremel (or use another rotary tool) to remove the plastic to get the backlight out. (They are often molded into the frame.) Then put in the new backlight and reassemble everything. See http://www.lcdparts.net/howto/default.aspx for more information but for an overview: http://www.inventgeek.com/Projects/BacklightFix/overview.aspx Then push the new backlights into place, reconnect the wires and close up the sandwich of tape and other parts around the screen. Then replace it in the bezel.

With a good spare backlight, you can test an inverter for condition (plug together and turn on the tv while the box is open). Similarly a good inverter can test the backlight.

I hope this helps.

Pretty much my 19 inch

Might be your backlight inverter...do you have sound? If so, hold a flashlight up to the screen when it's turned on and if you see images...that is probably the culprit. Try these guys for parts, they have been great to me in the past....ShopJimmy.com.

My tv has a blue screen with "no signal" words

Hello
As the screen information indicates, the tV do not get any signal to process by its video IF and chroma stage. As blue screen is OK, there is no fault with its video amplifier and output section. The fault will be either with its video-IF or Tuner stage. To confirm, which stage is faulty, do these first. Connect the TVs antenna socket with external antenna, and make an autotune function [you can do this by referring its user manual]; and see whether the set receives any on-air transmissions. Wait till the auto-tune function finishes and see whether it displays the first channel received. If this process is OK, there is no fault with your TV, and the fault is with cable connection itsef. If there is no channels tuned with this process, do the second check. Connect the tV with any other video sources, like DVD/VCR etc, by its AV connections, and select the input to AV. If there is picture with AV, and no picture with outdoor antenna, the "Tuner" inside the Tv is faulty and must be replaced with same type and number. If there is no video with DVD/VCR connections, the video processor IC is faulty, and should be replaced. Replacing this IC is really a skilled job, and a beginner or any unexperienced person cannod do this work. If so; contact any experienced service personal of get it repaired by the Authorised Service Center for Poloroid, at your town. OK.

Entire screen flashes Red then blue then Green etc

Hello,

IF the backlights are on but you just get dim glowing on the screen when look at the screen in darkened room then the T-CON board is bad or it is not getting the 12vdc from the main logic board. Need to use logical troubleshooting before buying the wrong parts, but if otherwise, You need to check the output voltages of the power supply to see which one goes off. It may be due to short circuits some where and if not power supply board is dead, d you know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Hope this solution will helpout to rectify the problem...

When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me.

1. Many modern day monitors have an audio cable that goes from the rear side of the monitor to the green colored AUDIO JACK on the back and sometimes front portion of your PC. 2. Ensure to turn up the volume 3. If the speakers are built into the monitor, you may also need to ensure that your monitor is plugged INTO THE PC WITH ANOTHER THICK BLACK OR WHITE CABLE. THIS SAME CABLE WIILL BE ALMOST RECTANGULAR ON ONE END THAT WILL PLUG INTO THE BACK OF THE PC FOR VIDEO AND OFTENTIMES YOUR SOUND.

Solution 3

Lets focus on the external portion of the TV set first (95 percent of all TV problems are related to things EXTERNAL To the tv itself) Check the physical CONNECTION of all cables by removing each wire bare or RCA and reinstalling it (Each power cable as well), once you have removed one cable, check it for fraying, and if it is already bare, splice a new fresh connection for it. 5. Check to make sure there are NO OTHER uneeded radios, system nearby. these systems, when powered on, will cause electromagnetic interference and prevent more than just severe tv interference SURGE PROTECTOR Surge protectors account for more than 75 percent of electric faults to stereo equipment. Lets start with your AC Wall outlet. It is standard in america that 220 Volts from out of these outlets. This implies that each device will be using 220 Volts (From within that grid zone). If anything including an alarm clock is plugged into any AC outlet socket in the vicinity of the stereo equipment/TV, it will cause electric outage, and prevent electronics from even turning on! Your TV needs dedicated electric power. If your TV is located in the living room then unplug everything else in the living room. Lets plug the TV set into a Dedicated socket. Check all light switches to ensure that power is on for that outlet. Check the TV cable for Fraying both on the ac wall end and where it plugs into the TV. Check all GFCI outlets to ensure that all red reset buttons are pushed in, check the circuit breakers for proper connection and they are turned on. Now, lets try the TV set without it connected to any cable services, vcr, dvd, stereo system, etc. Please respond if we have found a solution.

The dvd in the tv won't work.

The DVD in that unit is un-repairable. Go to www.shopjimmy.com and enter your model number and see if they have one. They are very easy to replace.

Does it come with an antena or must it be

You will have to purchase an antenna. I recommend an indoor outdoor amplified based on the reviews I just read on Amazon about this television having a not so good digital tuner. You can also opt to get cable as well. Comcast has digital cable and you don't need a cable box but if you get satellite you will need a satellite receiver/dvr.
