Sony VAIO VGN-CR120E Notebook Questions & Answers
I have Windows 7 on
try the following:
If anyone is having trouble getting this driver to install on their Windows 7 Vaio, the problem is not the driver itself, but the installer, which does not work with Windows 7. I had the same problem as everyone else, but I downloaded/installed the Universal Extractor (
http://legroom.net/software/uniextract) and the driver installer (
http://s02.download.sony.com/US/pc/RIDCAM-14566600-US.EXE). I ran the Extractor on the Driver's Installer, which extracted all of the files. I then executed the x64 installer file (RIDCAM-14566600-US\TEMPEXEFOLDER\DPInst64.exe). This properly updated the driver and my webcam has been functioning normally since. Hope this helps others

Which drivers to uninstall to get my webcam to work and how
You have to find and start the camera software. Look inside the program
list and start the camera software. Click Start/Programs and look for
any reference to camera or webcam. Look inside the manufacturer folders
also because it might be inside one of them. Some manufacturers might
have something like Entertainment Experience that launches and shows all
the icons for the entertainment devices. If so open it and click on the
webcam or camera icon.
If you want the reinstall the webcam drivers then go to the manufacturer website.
Get online
and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Sony
Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Download and install the drivers.
You can always download Manycam and
install it. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type:
"download.cnet.com"(without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the
site. When thesite opens look down on the left and you will see a gray
area that says Find Software. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in
the white search area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back
your results look for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down
load it and install it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky
programs it would like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no
additions whatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and
easy to use,and you will always know where your webcam software is.

I have a sony
Those 2 software packages offered by Sony on their web site, (a) ArcSoft Magic-i Visual Effects, and
(b) WebCam Companion Software, may just include the driver necessary to get their packages to
work with Win7 - pick one an install it - if the camera works, you got the driver. If the camera still
refuses to work, then all you have to do is de-install the package, install the other one and
give that a try.
The Sony drivers support page (for the Vaio VGN-FZ4000):

try going to sony's site and downloading the audio drivers for your laptop after uninstalling them via device manager. under xp right click on my computer go to device manager select audio device and delete it under win 7 go to my computer then system properties then device manager and do that. after that windows will re recognize the audio system and look for the drivers and either use the one windows gives you or from sony's website.

I have a sonyt vaio-cr120e and i installed windows
Windows 7 requires the drivers be updated or at least compatible with Windows 7....so if Sony has not written the drivers for your machine yet, they probably won't and those devices will not work under Win-7.
If you call Sony's customer service or support line and complain to them, they may provide you with a work-around that will get them back operational again.
