My laptop will not accept disc makes clicking
The clicking noise is the drive head banging up against the stops. It is doing this because it has lost its home position. You should try a few other cd's or dvds. You may notice it will read a cd but not a dvd. If it clicks on both then unfortunetly it needs replacement. If it read cd but not dvd's then it may work for a while longer but will need replacement sooner or later.
This is common on laptop drives. If you have warrenty they should fix it. If you don;t this is something you can fix yourself. The drive is held in by one small phillips screw. Unscrew that and the drive slides out. Slide the new one in and put the screw back in and you are done and fixed.
A replacement drive should be available from several sources. Prices should be from $45 to $100. Check with Dell as well and compare the price and shipping costs.
If you do a search on google and bing using 'Dell Studio 17 replacement parts' you should find several possible sources. Here is one to start you out.

You can find these on ebay as well. But you may take a bit of a chance that you are getting a good one. Ebay can be the cheapest but if it doesn;t work then it isn;t much of a savings.

Driver for Dell BT Travel Mouse
If it is a dell mouse, it should automatically work after a few things. Simply locate the button on your mouse to power it on, open your bluetooth settings on your computer and scan. It will then add the drivers as a HID (human interface device). If that fails go to dell.com, search for drivers & downloads under support and search for the drivers & documentation.
Will not get to post
Hi there!
If you're saying that the lights come on one by one then
you're post completed.
Do you still hear the windows load up?
The best way for the problem of yours is to plug in an external monitor,
In that way you will see if you need to replace the motherboard because you have tested the LCD and it works fine,
Try re seating the battery and ac adapter.
Hope this helps!

2) The lens may be dirty. Open the cd door and blast some compressed air into it

Dell laptop w/ Vista - will post but then freeze up
Do you see the hard drive listed in the BIOS?
If not, probably a hard drive issue - but strange you can't boot from a CD.
Did you reset the BIOS to defaults? If it is a BIOS issue, you could try and flash it to a newer one (if it exists) but if it goes wrong you could brick your computer.
I had a failing hard drive in a laptop which would not boot up. I bought one of those converter things (laptop IDE to full IDE) so I could hook it up to my desktop pc as a slave. I was able to access all the data and transfer it to the new hard drive in the laptop. If you have a SATA connection on the laptop hard drive and your other computer then I don't think an adapter would be needed.
