If you have a Volt-ohm meter you can check if the AC adapter for your laptop is giving out the correct voltage. Also if you have a meter and you can see that the voltage is correct on the adapter try taking out the battery and plugging in the ac adapter and test the battery connection on the computer for voltage, if do have voltage to the adapter but not the battery terminal it could be a motherboard issue. A quick question, is the ac jack loose or does the plug move around easily when plugged in?

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if okay! the LCD replacement is bad, however! if the monitor shows the same symptom, it means the video graphics card is bad normally built on the motherboard.

one thing you can try is to remove the memory sticks (RAM) of the computer and then put it back in and start the computer again.
If you have 2 try them one by one.

A) Click on the Windows logo button, (Start), then click on Computer. (Windows Vista and Win7)
Right-click on the DVD drive. Left-click on Eject in the list.

B) Press the button on the optical drive's tray. See if you can ease the tray open. DON'T force it.

C) Taking the optical drive out so you can remove the cover, and retrieve your CD is the pits!

You have to partially disassemble the laptop from the top down, in order to access the mounting screws. Then you can slide the optical drive out of the side of the laptop, and remove it's cover.

Put the Windows disk in and repair the drivers. Should be easy follow on screen instructions, if not use the DELL OEM disk to start and do repair. I have a Dell Inspirion it did this b/c of a virus. I just did a repair WIN7 and all is good now.

Take the battery off, wait ten minutes to put the battery back, it should work to the next time, the next time can be day, month or years, if it keep being a problem there are 2 solutions by dell
a) Install a bios upgrade b) change the keyboard plate
If you are out of warranty b) can be expensive, for a) you should use the dell website to download the bios upgrade and follow the instructions
The full discharge usually resolves the problem for months (Mine has 2 years without incidents)

AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM AND EVEN BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

The auction isn't mine but that price is great considering thru Google shopping the prices were running double at about $200.

Make sure the battery is well seated in the laptop. If that doesn't work, the battery may be going bad and you will need a replacement. I've had to replace my Dell's battery twice since I got it about 4 years ago.

hi there, is your DVD rom combo type? if not! they cannot read a regular CD only DVD. if yes! i suggest try other audio player. you can search free download on Google. thanks

problem with your charger or battery

usuaully you would just move the mouse cursor or pres a key on the keyboard to put the screen back on?

if your screen hasn't timed out, the laptop may have gone into standby or hibernation mod?
this would mean the video is no longer uploading to youtube

the quickest way to test this is to try connecting the computer to an external monitor. another thing you can do is to reseat the LCD cable from the motherboard. I would recommend you use another computer to check the manual at support.dell.com in order to get the step by step walkthrough. on the manuals use the one for removing/replacing the LCD to see how to remove the LCD cable and reconnect it back to the system.

re-install windows

There may be several physical problems. You should make sure that the battery is properly plugged in and no switches that allow it to be removed are in the open position. Checking that the power cord if plugged in proper at the laptop, the power brick, and the power outlet may also solve the problem. If none of these work, try using a different power cord that fits your laptop if you can get your hands on one. You may also want to try a different power outlet, or make sure that power outlet can power another device (eg vacuum, phone) so you know if it's actually a problem with that power outlet and not your computer.

If you battery doesn't charge even with a cable that you know works for another computer, and the outlet is working properly, your battery may be corroded or suffering from over-use over a long period of time. In this case it would be best to buy a replacement battery directly from Dell which you can do here:

to turn on your Wifi on your laptop, search for a button which looks like a satellite and press it with your fingers to turn it on.

First, make sure that the CD/DVD disc is not heavily scratched or damaged.
If not, then the drive's lens needs to be cleaned.
Try to clean it with a lint free cotton cloth & see if this helps.
If not, then most probably the Cd/DVD drive will need to be replaced.
