It happens if the upper and lower filters are corrupted. By removing both or anyone of the files will resolve the issue. To do so, please follow the below steps (Note: Please delete the excat entry in the steps below. If you do not find the entries ignore it. Do not delete any other files that will screwup your computer):

1. From the Windows Vista default Start menu, point to All Programs, Accessories, and then click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, type: Regedit and Click OK.
3. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4. In the Registry Editor window, locate and then click to select the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
5. From the File menu, click Export.
6. In the File name dialog box, type: Savedkey, and then click Save.
7. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters file, and then from the Edit menu, click Delete. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
8. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type LowerFilters file, and then from the Edit menu, click Delete. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
9. In the Registry Editor window, from the File menu, click Exit.
10. Shut down Windows® and restart the compute

Laptop can sometimes turn off because they are overheating, even if the fan is running. You have to be careful with the surface you sit the laptop on. If has to be a hard surface that allows the bottom of the laptop to get air.

The laptop could also be turning off because of a hardware problem or a virus.

I will give you further information in a second post.

Very annoying... but what i think caused the damage is the heat the laptop creates while gaming
Now i have a USB cooler pad for my laptop but yea all i do now is turn on my laptop to warm up for 10 15mins or so then... turn it off and turn it back on then it will work...

there are many possible reason why its not charging, for you to be able to isolate which is defective, follow these steps, removed the battery and connect the laptop directly to the power outlet then try to turn it on, if it turn on, that means that the charger is working fine and the battery is defective already, if it did not turn on, that means that there is a possiblility that the problem is with the charger or the DC port on the laptop...So if its the battery, you need to replaced it, do the same if it is the charger, but if its the DC port, you will need to replaced the Motherboard.

Did it just happen after you installed new software/hardware?
You can try booting up in safe mode and use the system restore to take it back on the day before the problem happened.
Post back more with details.
I would not format the drive unless you have ALL the drivers for all the hardware for this computer! Also all the product keys and save all your DATA.

you have to run a wire from the headphone jace to the input sound on the tv to hear the sound on the tv

I have checked with Acer and there is no start up or recovery disc available so you have one option;- purchase a new OS disc.
If you do you must download the drivers from Acer.com.

I found this solution on another support blog, its works....

i had the same problem but the answer is so freaking stupid. k tried installing all the software again and again but no cure. Then I read on a forum that i just needed to get the battery out for several second and it worked!!

Summary:


shut pc down,

remove battery (and if plugged in the power cord)

Replace battery, boot it up and all should be fine.

if i does not respond then open launch manager

They do. Disconnect any periferals before booting.
Download an updated BIOS and updated drivers from Acer.com

Your wirless button will be located at the top of your laptop,underneath the screen, there will be 4 or 5 buttons and one will have a picture of a satelite/radar on there, this will be your wireless button

Internal issue, if it is possible check to make sure there is power coming out of the prones where the battery sticks in, if you have a tester you will be able to test if there is power going to the battery.

When you first turn on the laptop you will get a screen that says Press F1 for setup, or Press Control F1 or something like that. It will only be on the screen for a moment. Do what it says then.
Now you are in the Setup section. Along the bottom of the screen, there will be some instructions on what keys to push for setting to default and then what keys to push to confirm the settings and exit that area. The machine will reboot. At that time don't push any keys and allow the machine to boot up on it's own.
IF THERE IS NO PASSWORD PROTECTION TO THE SETUP SCREEN AREA, WHICH OFTEN THERE ISN'T, IT WILL WORK.

it is not detecting the hard drive just remove the back cover and re fix the hard drive.it it is not working then you need to change the hard drive.

1.Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD drive, and then restart the computer.
2.Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD drive if you are prompted.
3.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
4.Press 1 (One) to select windows XP and then hit enter.
5.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
6.At the command prompt, Type
compact /U C:\bootmgr
compact /U C:\ntldr

Step 1: Shut down your PC completely.
Step 2: Turn on the Power button.
Step 3: As soon as you turn it on start hitting the F8 key on your keyboard until you get to a black screen called "Windows Advanced option". (If you don't get to that screen but you end up reaching the Blue/Black screen than that means you have delayed in hitting the F8 key. start again from step 1.)
Step 4: As soon as you reach "Windows Advanced option" use your down arrow keys to choose an option called "Last know good configuration".
Step 5: Select that and HIT ENTER

if this fails then try repairing it from recovery console.

• Insert the OS CD and boot from CD.
• During Startup, select Recovery Console from the startup options menu.
• When you are prompted, type the Administrator password.
• Type the Command chkdsk /r

Try hooking up the external monitor to it first to see if the external monitor shows the same symptom.
Are you getting green cast on the whole screen?
