I for gotton my pass word to my computrt

Hello and welcome to FixYa,

If your going to use a password recovery cd.. you should use the free one below.. as it works far better

http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/download.php?type=livecd

you cannot just burn the image you download though, you need a special program to make it into a readable disk..

Here is a link to the free special program

http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/ImgBurn/1128426215/1

download and install imageburn.. and once installed, use imageburn to burn the disk

when you open image burn, you will have six options, select burn iso image to disk

then select the first file we downloaded, the oph live cd file

once burned to disk, boot the computer from that disk, and reset the password

If you cannot get this to work and do not care about losing your information on your computer; this will get you in without a password, but will set your computer back to factory setting; wiping it completely clean like when you bought it.

Turn your computer off.
Restart your computer.
When the Acer screen comes up, immediately press and hold Alt+F10.
Keep pressing F10 repeatedly while keeping the Alt button pressed down.
You will be asked how you want to reset your computer.
Press Factory Restore.
This may take up to an hour.

If you are asked to enter a pass code, enter your pass code or 000000.

This may not work on the first attempt. You have to start tapping immediately when you hit the power button on. If it goes to regular start up with your windows, shut the computer off and retry it again.

Hope that helps;

Let me know how this worked out for you. If my solution helped you, please rate this solution!
It doesn't cost anything and only takes a second, but it is greatly appreciated.

On my acer aspire 6930

chances are that it is not you operating system that is not supported but rather your sound processor. Maybe try updating your program that handles your sound. However virtual surroundsound is a joke and it doesnt really sound good at all so if i were you i would just disable it and save yourself the trouble.

Hi i reset my acer

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your problem.

The only other way to resolve this issue is going to with the use of recovery media.

Currently you're using the built in partition, but i'm hoping you also made some disks like it would've asked you to.

If so, insert disk 1 and restart to load from the recovery disc.
----
If not - you can contact Acer to be supplied with these, they'll still be a lot cheaper than buying Windows, but will cost approx $50.

Acer aspire 6920 back to factory settings

Acer sent me these instructions.

The other way before Vista starts up is to tap ALT + F10 (at the same time repeatedly) when the computer is first switched on.. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts

Once you have tapped both the ALT and F10 repeatedly, you may see a screen showing:

“Edit Boot options for Microsoft Windows Vista”

If you see this, unfortunately, you have missed the window of opportunity, and you need to restart, and try again.

If you see this:
“Edit Boot options for Windows Setup” OR “Edit Boot options for Acer eRecovery”

Then it indicates that you have tapped the ALT + F10 correctly, and all you now need to do is press “Enter” and the Recovery program should load on your screen after a short pause..

In some cases, you may need to remove the battery (for notebooks only) and run the machine directly from the mains.

The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs.

This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine.
If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.

Hi, I have a problem with

Hi Roe - It then is almost certain that the problem is your external A/C adapter. Until this gets sorted out I wouldn't keep plugging it into the laptop...it may be capable of doing damage to your PC. There is also a possibility that is the A/C circuity inside the machine.

The easiest thing to do (if you have the ability) is to use a voltmeter and measure the actual current coming out of the adapter. Most people don't have access to one so I'd recommend you take the adapter to a local electronics store (Like Radio Shack in the U.S.) and ask them to check the current (It should be outputting 19Volts DC @ 3.42 Amps or something very close.
The above assumes the machine is out of warranty. If not, obviously you should give Acer tech support a call and proceed there.

Should you discover that it is the A/C adapter and is out of warranty you should purchase a replacement adapter such as the ones listed HERE and you'll be back up and running.

Thanks for inquiring at Fix Ya

Doubt that you need to replace the keyboard. Most of the time debris is caught under the keys and can be removed by taking a can of compressed air (Air Duster or air compressor) and blow it out. Do not try to pry keys up out out as you may damage the connector.
