Get the battery checked in a nikon customer care. See if the camera works with same nikon battery of the some other person. If not, the problem might lie with the camera. Visit the customer care for repairing it.

When you see Err on the control panel, LCD monitor or viewfinder of your digital camera it refers to a camera malfunction. Try the following:

1. Remove all accessories from the camera.
2. Install a freshly charged battery into the camera.
3. If your Nikon camera offers resets such as the two-button reset or a hardware reset please follow those instructions provided in the product manual.

Have you tried using a different lens ?

If you did not set write protect on the card before you attached it to the computer, it may have got corrupted. If you are sure all the images are backed up, format the card in the camera.

Carefully drill a small hole (2-3mm diameter) into the visible end of the battery (drill as close to the flat edge as you can and in the middle to avoid the cells). Then swrew in a small screw - this should allow you to pull the battery out.

With a small screw driver, GENTLY push the battery side to side and back and forth. If there is room try to pinch with two small screwdrivers and pull. Sounds like it might be corroded in place.

Either too low an ISO or too narrow an aperture.

That is most likely the TTL preflash and should not show up in your final exposure.

Try setting the flash control to manual (e2 under the Bracketing/Flash menu). That should give you only the one flash at the end.

You could simply go to Nikon's software download page and download the programs. You can register those programs you wish to purchase, and burn to a blank CD.

The CRH error message means that the lock tab on your memory card is in the locked position. The purpose for the lock switch is to allow you to set your SD card so that you cannot accidently erase your valuable pictures. Remove your SD flash memory card from the camera and hold it in your hand with the label toward you and the angled corner to the upper right. Look on the left edge of the card and you will see a very small slider switch. Make sure the switch is in the fully up position then reinsert it in the D90. If the camera is not generating a false error, your camera should work correctly.

Your problem is that you are not using a suitable memory card for the D90. 2Gb SD cards have read/write speeds that are much too slow to work with quality DSLR's. Let me explain. When you take a picture with the D90, the data generated first goes into a small capacity buffer memory. The purpose of the buffer is to act as a conduit to your SD memory card and retain picture data until all of the data is safely written to the SD card. If your SD card can accept data as quickly as the buffer can pass it to the SD card, there is no problem. But, If the SD card is not capable of accepting the data quickly enough, the buffer will start to fill up since data is coming in faster than it is going out. If you take pictures in quick succession with a slow SD card or if you shoot video with a slow SD card, the buffer will overflow; i.e., fill to its capacity and become incapable of accepting more data until its capacity returns as the SD card accepts the data. During that time, the camera will prevent you from taking any more still photographs. You will push the shutter release and nothing will happen. If you are shooting video, the camera will continue to work, but the sound will loose sync with the picture. For your D90 to function properly under all conditions, you must have an SDHC card that is rated at 45Mbs or faster. When I first bought my D90 several years back, 35Mbs was the fastest card made and I had the problems I described to you above. When Sandisk brought out the Sandisk Pro card with a 45Mbs speed my problems melted away. I should also ad that 2Gb is much too low of a capacity for the D90. It will fill up very quickly if you shoot Raw or fine quality jpeg files. You need a minimum of 8Gb.

If you're in one of the PSAM modes then don't pop up the flash. You can use the Auto-No-Flash mode by turning the mode dial to the position after the green Auto mode (a lighting bolt in a circle with a slash through it).

I feel for you. exactly the same happened to me but i was looking to upgrade lens so i used it as an excuse.the piece is called a bayonet. what lens is it, is it the kit lens. my lens was unfixable so  am afraid as the mount is plastic the whole lens is a right off, if it was a metal mount it would be worth fixing. sorry

Assuming you've made sure the auto-focus is turned on on both the lens and the camera, remove the lens, turn off the camera. Remove the battery. Wait about a minute. Put the lens back on, turn the camera back on . It's a computer basically. Sometimes it crashes. I've had this happen to me a few times.

The Nikon D-90 manual addresses this problem on Page 256. It says that ERR indicates a camera malfunction and can be cleared by releasing the shutter. I usually have to turn the camera off and back on to do this. Sometimes, I have to remove and reinstall the battery. In an emergency situation, you may be able to continue taking pictures in the manual mode but you'll have to set the shutter speed and aperture yourself. The manual also says that if the problem persists to contact a Nikon authorized service center. Before doing that I suggest you contact Nikon tech support at www.nikon.com and see what they have to say about the problem.

Do you really need a driver? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Is this keeping you from shooting? Normally this is an informational message telling you how many more shots you can take in the current burst before the buffer fills up and the camera has to stop shooting and write to the memory card.
