you need a new tub spout, the o ring goes bad and allows it to come from both at the same time, they are a pain in the **** to get out so i would just replace it , some screw off and some have an allen screw on the bottom of it close to the wall that you loosen up and it will slide off
Th hot water side of single handle shower faucet
most likely it is the cartridge,if you replace it this may fix this problem.you must remove the handle and a pin at the top of the cartridge, first make sure the water is off to the unit then proceed.
I just installed a new cartridge in a moen single
try and pull the cartridge out and look in there with a flash light and make sure there isn't any think lodged in the hot water side of the faucet, you might even want to leave the cartridge out and turn the water back on to try and flush it out. alot of times rubber from the old cartridge gets stuck in there as you are pulling the old one out especially if it's stuck in there good
Just installed a Moen shower fixture, & the
I just installed one this weekend. Make sure that the cartridge has the embossed "HC" at the top (for Hot on left, Cold on right) when you slide it back in. Also, before putting the handle on turn the cartridge shaft so that the completely flat part is toward the top and the side with the small notch at the end is toward the bottom.

Moen Shower value Does Not SHut off all the way
The heat is most likely what caused this. It probably melted some rubber or plastic component in the cartridge in the faucet. The manifold would have been quite hot 2 inches from a copper joint being sweated.
Only hot water, no cold water.
The cartridges in the single handle units are prone to display this issue in hard water areas as mineral deposits such as calcium build up on the stem. The stems also have small rubber band like rings - for lack of a better term- that break apart and can clog the ports on the side where the are on. New stem should resolve the issue totally unless you have had a pipe break or other construction to the plumbing system recently. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
Our shower has not been used for a while. Now when we turn it on

Help again....
Oops, Try taking a large drill bit and drilling out the center of the cartridge and then trying to "pick" out the remaining pieces. If all else fails, you will will have to replace the faucet. I wouldn't go back with a cartridge style faucet in the future. I have come across difficult ones in the past including my mothers own faucet! I replaced hers with a Delta. American Standard makes a good faucet these days as well that won't break the bank! Hopefully this helps.
Help
Sometimes they are very stubborn. Get a pair of pliers or channel lockes and pull straight up. Try wiggling the and pulling at the same time. This is the only way it can come out so you just need to keep working on it. Good luck!
My moen faucet still after replacing the cartidge
Remove the cartridge and turn it 180 degrees and push it back in. When you pull the cartridge out, inspect the housing and make sure there isn't debris caught where the inlet to the cartridge is. Something could be caught in there. Also, remove the supply line with the cartridge removed on the cold side and blow through it. Air should move and if it doesn't, there is something in there. Try using some compressed air to blow through the line. Hope this helps.
