Very little cold water, lots of hot from kohler shower valve
Probably some pipe rust clogged the exit. If u have pretty low pressure on one or both, hot and cold water, try keep force closed by hand the water exit at shower pipe, then start both cold and warm water gradually as much as u can keep it closed with the hand. The pressure of the water will try "escape thru the clogged pipe and hopefully unlock that debris or rust! The hot water pressure going back thru the cold water pipe might unclog that debris.Just a simple fix which many times works as a charm..Otherwise if this is not fixing, try close both water from main service valve. Then unscrew the secondary shower valves and manually clean them or replace if very damaged.

No hot water in shower
They have a anti-scald device on valve.remove handle there is a little white ring with teeth on it and a square stop that stops handle so that you don't get to much hot water, just pull out a little and rotate ring counter clockwise(I think it's been a while since I adjusted one). You may have to play with it a few times but it allows handle to travel further to hot side, allowing more hot water.

My water heater was serviced(drained
If the water is only cool in the shower, it could be the shower valve. However if water is cool at all taps, something is not working on the water heater system.

Hi, my shower faucet /head
You need to order seals and replace them. Typically, dirt in the water system damages the rubber (neoprene, plastic) soft parts. Sometimes the damage wrecks metal parts, but this is less common.

Very little cold water from shower valve
If this is a new installation and has always beenj this way, then I would suspect that there may be an obstruction in the cold water line leading to the valve. Or something stuck in the valve at the point where the cold water is connected. If someone has worked on thius valve recently , then I would suspect that they got the valve cartridge in backwards, If the catridge is not placed in the valve correctly the opperation is messed up.

No hot water pressure on kohler bath / shower faucet
Try draining the system and apply air pressure (min 30psi) to each faucet. Open other hot water faucets to allow pressure to vent. Next try draining and cleaning the hot water tank.

Kohler shower facuet pressure balancing problem?
ever since the pressure balancing regulations came out for shower valves, they have went from simple to very complicated devices. sounds as if some foreign material caused the valve to stop working. that valve is quit difficult to reassemble correctly because there is only one way it works and can be assemmbled many ways that do not work concerning alignment of the ports. if you dissassemble it and check that all the moving parts are functioning in the balancing cartridge you can then look closely at the alignment of the ports on the cartridge that the handle is connected to. understanding how the port align as the handle is turned should assist you in assembling it correctly......hope this helps.

Pressure problem with Kohler shower faucet??
Hi pglaw,
My best guess is the supply valve for the hot side isn't open all the way. This valve is right on the valve and is accessed by taking off the front cover plate. This would still allow the pressure balancing valve to let water through but then you would have a small flow on the hot side.
If this isn't it then then cartridge is bad.
Please rate this response and good Luck,, phil

How do I remove the plastic insert to access the cartridge on a Kohler K-171 kitchen faucet?
To remove the plastic insert on your Kohler K-171 kitchen faucet, you can follow these steps:
First, turn off the water supply to the faucet.
Next, remove the handle of the faucet by unscrewing the set screw on the underside of the handle using a hex wrench or an Allen key.
Once the handle is removed, you should see a plastic insert that covers the cartridge. To remove this insert, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry it off.
Once the plastic insert is removed, you should be able to access the cartridge.
If you need more detailed instructions, you can refer to the installation manual for your Kohler K-171 kitchen faucet .
