Much would depend on whether it is a start capacitor or a start/run capacitor. If there is a switch on the end of the rotor operated by centrifugal weights it will be a start capacitor only but if there is no centrifugal switch the capacitor will need to do double-duty and the value could be critical. Guessing isn't really an option and the working voltage of the capacitor is equally important. You will probably find the capacitor as a spare part from a dealer will be prohibitively expensive but once the value has been discovered and if possible the manufacturer, part number and so forth, great savings can be made by sourcing direct from the capacitor manufacturer. Jet 577102 is a bench grinder with 1HP motor. It has got guards on the grinding wheel. Dust vents and guard makes the grinder makes it an efficient grinder. 115 Volt is needed to run this high performance grinder.

that comes up as a craftsman brand by sears ( mass produced ) variable speed grinder I cant find an exploded view or user manual if you cant get the value information think you will be up for an oscilloscope

If there are only 4 wires used first is to find the wires of the powercable wallconnector make a measure between them the 2 other leads goes to the motor turn the motor wires and the power cable together temporarily for research that does everything if there is a thirth lead to find make a measurement from the metal point of the housing to the earth lead on the wall connector Beware to Not always trust the used colors and or cables if more people over time have worked on it . if not sure if its a CLass 2 double insulated or Class 1 with a third Green/yellow earthlead. look allways for the two square symboles on the name plate with technical information on the machine to be shure if its a double insulated kl2 machine or a kl1 ( if kl2 remove then always the kl1 cable with earth lead).

A single phase motor needs an additional winding for starting. The winding is often isolated by a centrifugal switch. If the grinder is little used it would not be unusual to find the bob-weights and linkage to be seized. It would seem time to dismantle the grinder and carry out some maintenance.
