LG DLE5977 Electric Dryer Questions & Answers
LG model DLE5955S not drying
The common cause of dryers not heating is something causing the air not to be heated and circulating. To circulate, the air must have a good, clear path to enter and exit the dryer. Check the exhaust vent for lint clogging the passage. If clear, the next thing to check is the heating element thermal fuse and thermostats. The fuse can blow if overloaded from clogged exhaust vent or overheating in some way. If blown, it must be replaced. And the high temp thermostat can go bad also. They can both be checked by unplugging the power cord, disconnecting the thermostat and thermal fuse, one at a time and checking continuity with a multimeter. if broken, replace as needed. While you're at it, disconnect heating element and also check continuity. Replace any part that shows an open circuit after checking. You could temporarily bypass the thermal fuse or thermostat and see if the dry heats. It would be dangerous to leave in this state, so only do this temporarily. That could confirm the faulty part.
Lg dryer is overheating blowing the thermal fuse
you have an airflow problem. Check the vent hose all the way out and the outdoor vent hood.
a simple verification can be performed by disconnecting the vent hose from the dryer and see if this solves the problem.
New Drum Install - Rubbing
Ken, Don't know if this will be of any help or not, as I've never seen a dryer drum with the felt seal on the front. All of the machines I've repaired, (and that's a bunch), had the felt seal on the rear of the drum, with the front being supported by the configuration of the front panel where the door is located. Mostly the front of the drums were supported by small strips of teflon, or cork, as slides, but that's it. Never had one with felt in front. Is it possible the drum is in backwards?
Loud dryer noise when drying
sounds like bearing take off back and see if and black markes around the bearings only other thing it could be is the felt ring around the drum
Not tumbling
check the pully on the motor and check the tention of the drive mechanism. It's usually a belt around the drum.
AUTOMATIC HEAT SETTINGS NOT WORKING PROPERLY
lg's have a dry sensor that senses the wetness of the load they are not that reliable.. and will shut down the machine does it work on manual timer? meaning set it on high for 30 minutes.. it will probably run the 30 minutes... I have had this issue with my lg and so I just use the manual settings cheaper than having a 300$ service call. Its a problem with the dry sensor on the lining of the drum...
