It is making a noise

Becky, from what you described, the AC unit has a buildup of water in the drip pan. This can be caused by 2 things. The drain hole near the rear of the unit is clogged and/or the rear of the unit is not tilted down enough. The general rule of thumb is 1/4" to 1/2" rear downward tilt. This allows the water to flow to the rear of the drip pan where the drain hole is.

Finding the drain hole can be a challenge at times. Because the clog can blend in with the drain hole.
But, patience and persistence will pay off. A pipe cleaner works well to clear the drain hole. nd, don't forget about the downward tilt.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have an LW1210ER unit.

It could be mold, smoke, or cooking odors. "When conditions are too moist inside the unit, mold can grow on the condenser coil. When your air conditioner blows cold air into your home, it also blows mold spores and their musty odor. If someone smokes within your household, the odor of smoke can sink into the coil and be redistributed into your home whenever the air conditioner runs. The same thing can happen with intense cooking odors"
Try below steps that I have learned before from a good source and it really works.
You can get rid of the smell in your home air conditioner by cleaning the condenser coil. A solution of 1/2 cup of bleach in a gallon of water will kill mold and its spores. Examine the condenser pan to ensure it is draining properly, which will prevent water from building up and recreating the moist environment that allowed the mold to grow in the first place. The same bleach solution will deodorize the coil and remove smoke and cooking odors.

If you have problems with smoke or cooking odors in your air conditioning unit, cleaning the condenser coil will not be enough to remove those odors from your home. You must also replace your air filter even though the filer looks clean to you because it can absorb odors and recirculate them into your home. Smoke and cooking odors can sink into wall, furniture and carpets, so they might linger long after your air conditioner no longer has an issue with odoriferous coil.

Good luck to you

Thanks

Can the evaporator be repaired or replaced

Most units of this size are "disposable." They can be repaired by a service technician and require specialized tools and skill. If the evaporator has a leak refrigerant must be recovered, unless empty. The system has to be flushed with dry nitrogen and brazed, not soldered, and once repaired a vacuum must be pulled on system before charging with the correct refrigerant. So depending on how old the system is and the local HVAC techs in your area will be the deciding factor.

Ruud achiever 90 plus furnace will not start with door on.

I would try to check your return air first, making sure there is no blockage and that your air filters are clean. It almost sounds like when you take the cover off, you are pulling enough air into the system for it to run, but as soon as you close it off, it's not getting enough air flow, therefore, tripping a limit switch inside the furnace. Most furnaces will also have the codes for the flashing lights and what they mean on the inside of the door covers.

Ruud achiever 90 plus gas furnace not blowing any heat

These new furnaces are trouble. Ive been in the htg trade for 25 yrs. The fan is running because they are now controlled by a timer instead of a temperature control. Rather than sensing a preset temperature and turning on the fan, it comes on by a preset time. Couple of things, does either of the doors have an inspection window? most newer furnaces have what is called a smart board. The board will flash a trouble code. ie: 1 long 2 short etc. #1 turn your thermostat to off, youll need 2 people for this! Go to the furnace, If it has the above mentioned inspection window ( usually about 2" round) while peering through the window have someone turn the thermostat to about 80 degrees. Let the furnace cycle and see if it flashes a code. If it does the codes are usually on the bottom door, May be on the inside. The most common cause is either a bad transformer, bad hot surface ignitor or pressure switch failure. Further questions feel free to ask. Steve

CH21 error on LG - 800 Sq. Ft. 14,000 BTU Smart Window Air Conditioner (model LW1522IVSM).

The error is that the DC voltage is too high, not the house AC voltage. It should regulate through a transformer. Get LG to send an engineer under warranty. If you have a multimeter, you can test your house voltage. DC peak error / IPM fault; compressor DC voltage was too high.

My LG air conditioner is saying water fl what is that and where can I find it? I cannot find the book.

The FL error usually means that there is excess water in the drain pan. Look for the drain plug cap at the bottom of the back of the air conditioner. Remove the cap and tilt the air conditioner so that any water in the drain pan will run out. If the room is extremely humid and the air conditioner is set to Cool, this is normal. To reduce the water level issue, set the fan speed to Low. If the air conditioner is in the Dry (dehumidifying) mode, try setting it to Cool. Alternatively, consider using a hose if your unit allows for a continuous drain. Unplug the air conditioner for at least 10 seconds to reset the unit if the error persists. If the drain pan is dry or the error recurs before more water fills the drain pan after the reset, then the air conditioner needs service. Please add a comment with the model number of the unit if you need help finding the drain pan cap. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

I have a LG air conditioner which seems stuck on defrost. It works fine in cooling but when on heat the defrost light comes.

Possibly a stuck or closed defrost sensor. The sensor gets to freezing which closes the switch. So the unit goes into defrost cycle which switches the flow of the freon on a Heatpump. The hot gas thaws the coil and the sensor. Which opens the switch and switches it back. I'm giving this answer without knowing more about the unit. Defrost light comes on & it doesn't run at all? LG system is a split unit or window unit or what? If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/thomas_868a5ee3bf9eea64

Lg dual inverter stuck in defrost

It sounds like you were experiencing an issue with one of the indoor units on your LG dual inverter air conditioner, where it was stuck in defrost mode while the other unit was working properly in heating mode. It sounds like you've already replaced the control board of the indoor unit that was stuck in defrost mode and it fixed the problem. The control board is responsible for controlling the various functions of the air conditioner and it is a common cause of malfunction in air conditioning systems. It's great that you've been able to fix the issue, but if the problem comes back or you're experiencing other issues, it's best to contact LG's customer service or a professional technician for further assistance. It's important to note that troubleshooting and repairing air conditioners can be dangerous, especially if you're not familiar with the device, so it's best to contact a professional technician if you're not comfortable working with it.

LG 4 zone Mini Split error - CH35 triggered with specific Wall Mount.

These units cool better than they heat, and if the temperature ever drops far into minus 'C digits, they don't work at all. I have found that turning off all power for a minimum of two hours will reset most errors,. When you switch the breaker back on, you will hear relays clicking as part of the self testing. Wait 15 minutes before operating the unit. It sounds like your installer doesn't want to deal with you any longer. The engineers get very basic LG Service training, so at stages they are completely lost. I was advised not to buy LG and went with Fujitsu, but they have their own problems as it seems they all do! Phone LG Support on Monday and ask their advice, don't let them just say call for service. Tell them you want to speak with a technician that does the training sessions and seminars. ..
