I have a jazzy 1120
You have a serious problem. When something gets wet and it has power to it then the power tends to corrode things. The control board has contacts inside it that are subject to being corroded and also the switches could have been damaged too. Unfortunately the controller is really expensive.

1143 jazzy wheel chair
With a new charger and new batteries there can only be one other problem assuming all the wiring is connected properly. There is a 7.5 Amp in-line fuse hidden in a fuse holder off the charging harness. This fuse may have blown. I usually check this fuse first since it is usually the culprit and most difficult item to locate under the back cover. In rare cases the ammeter burns open and will cause the unit not to charge. After checking the fuse you can jumper one or both these items to see if it will charge and then purchase new parts. Hope this helps.

I have a wheelchair using a DL 5.2i
Make sure that you are not in freewheel. If you can push the chair and the chairs rolls easily you are in freewheel, look for the freewheel levers and place them in the drive mode. If you are not in freewheel then you could be in sleep mode If you have a manual see if it tells you how to get out of sleep mode. If not within 10 seconds of turning the chair on try pressing the horn button twice and then turn off then back on to see if you stopped the blinking lights. I don't know with the older joysticks how else to get it out of sleep mode. If you are still having problems you can call Pride

All controller lights are flashing
If they are flashing one after the other you maybe locked out. turn on then push the horn button twice to unlock, or turn on the joystick and hold the lever forward until you hear a beep, then all the way back until you hear a beep then the joystick should be unlocked. Check freewheel lever in drive position. unplug charger. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

How do I slow down my power chair
You may have a faulty speed control depending on the model. There are hand held programmers that are used to adjust the speed and other parameters. Your local dealer or mobile technician should be able to make that adjustment for you.

Light flashes 7 times
7 Flashes indicates a joystick trip. Turn off your chair, ensure the joystick is in center position without anything touching it and turn on chair. This should clear the 7 flash code.
This problem is quite common amongst power chair users. It typically occurs when something is pressing against the joystick as you are turning the chair on.

Why is my merits DL 5.2i stuck in low speed ?
You may have a thermal rollback issue. Try charging the chair overnight and leave the controller on while charging. This will give the control module/joystick time to reset themselves. Thermal rollback happens when a certain temperature in the motors is reached. The system shuts itself down to protect from damage.

I have a Jazzy Select model. Fairly new. It
It could be that the acceleration is set to low. This setting adjusts the time it takes for the chair to reach maximum speed that you have selected on the joystick. With a low setting, it takes it a few seconds to get to maximum. Reprogramming the acceleration to a higher setting decreases the amount of time for the chair to hit max speed. You will need a PP1 handheld programmer from P&G drives technology to change the settings, or take it to a local DME specialist who will usually have a programmer to reset the joystick.
